There was something to be said for the fact that Kakashi was the one herding Sasuke out the door in the morning to get to school.

“Hustle it up, kid.  We’ve got to hit the road.”

Kakashi stood outside Sasuke’s bedroom, dressed for another day of teaching and rolling up the sleeves of his button down shirt.  He bent his head close to the door, listened for any signs of life, then rapped on the door again. 

“Your cereal’s getting cold.”

One of those "I became the villains contract daughter" webtoon plots but for uhhh. One sec let me roll the wheel.

,,, Kakashi and Orochimaru.

Kakashi becomes Orochimaru's contract son bc for Reasons(tm) Oro needs a child. There's an actual contract drawn up and everything. It's very official and they're both treating it like a buisness deal

Orochimaru finds Kakashi's little grown up act less annoying than most other children, and Kakashi finds Orochimaru's "i don't give a shit what you do, just stay out of my lab and don't take shit from others" attitude equally as agreeable

Kakashi possibly needed a contract parent bc of stupid Konoha kid laws that would make him a ward of the state (aka official Konoha property) where they dump him into the orphanage and he literally can't say no to any missions they might direct his way bc the mission board assigning him things also retains power as his legal guardian

Someone on the board has a massive grudge against Sakumo too and they're like. For sure taking it out on Kakashi by giving him just AWFUL missions, very much trying to get this kid killed

This is some kind of more fucked up than usual Konoha au where the war dragged on longer than in canon and Minato is dead or out of the picture for reasons (maybe he's on an extended mission and is unaware of his students current situation)

All of this is actually just a very convolouted au for me to get Kakashi to call Oro step mother,,,

Idk what direction I'm going with this, I just wanna see it

Uhh Kakashi and Orochimaru learn to be hashtag real people through eachother, idk. Good for them.

I got the edit in tiktok with Obito and Kakashi again. Kakashi asks Obito why he didn't come back and Obito says it's because Kakashi let Rin die. You understand, don't you? Kakashi didn't kill Rin, he just let it happen. The fact that Obito never got around to putting all the responsibility and blame on Kakashi kills me. Anyone else is to blame for all of this, but not Kakashi. The shinobi system, the world, Minato, Kiri. Anyone. Never Kakashi.

Gods, Obito and Kakashi were totally simping for each other weren't they?

These two were disgustingly down bad for each other in the most tragic, soul-crushing way possible. The secret infauation was legendary—just buried under layers of guilt, war, and emotional constipation.

Exhibit A: Obito’s Entire Existence:

- Gave Kakashi his literal eye (a Sharingan! An Uchiha’s "heart"!) as a ”congrats on your promotion” gift.

- Basically "died" screaming Kakashi’s name while getting crushed by a boulder ("Protect Rin… for me…" aka "I trust you with my heart’s last wish").

-Kept Kakashi alive at every opportunity (yes, even that time when he went on a killer rampage and had just witnessed Kakashi kill his literal crush).

- As an adult terrorist? BOY WAS STILL OBSESSED! Built a whole Kakashi’s Pain Simulator in the Kamui dimension. He recreated Kakashi’s suffering in his mind to "prove" Kakashi’s life was pain—because Obito was, in fact, obsessed.

-Obito stalked Kakashi for years (watching him mourn at the Memorial Stone.. Kinda wonder if he was comparing dicks at any point too, like Gai did in that one filler episode🍆).

-Then in a way, Kamui was like Obito’s "Kakashi Pain Cave" where he sulked for 15 years—peak infatuation!)

- "I’ll haunt you forever 🖤🤍" energy 😭

sakumo speaks of kakashi much like a chihuahua owner does of their nasty little ankle biter who hates everyone.

*kakashi proceeds to snarl and growl while positioned on all fours*

kakashi is objectively a cute kid. unfortunately his personality resembles that of a small, shit-eye dog that isn't housebroken in fact does not endear him to the vast majority of konoha. the exceptions?

sakumo (of course)

orochimaru (who finds him to be a unique specimen he would like to look at on the inside but won't out of respect and fear of sakumo),

tsunade (who will growl back)

and minato (who is just as crazy, if not more, than kakashi is).

jiraiya does not find him cute, he finds him terrifying and is, in fact, the one that put kakashi in the cage.

Lazy day Kakashi (Moon in the Day)

I wanted to do this in digital but I don't have the time right now.

For context I hc Rin and Obito as 2 years older than Kakashi, so Kakashi was 12 during Kannabi and Rin and Obito 14.

I don't usually draw Rin that much but I absolutely love her and plan to do more with her. It's funny because when I first watched the show I didn’t like her. It wasn't until I began to read fanfics and saw all the headcanons and interpretations of her character here on tumblr that I started to like her. So thank you all for that <3<3

So here are some (bits of how I see her/of my my headcanons about her) on her relationship with Kakashi.

Rin used to idealize Kakashi, so ended up crushing on him. And Kakashi really did carry himself with a lot of self-confidence and strenght, always giving that prodigy vibes. So Rin being a kid didn't realize how young Kakashi actually is.

This changes after the Kannabi bridge mission. Kakashi, whose body is still adapting to his Sharingan, is unable to keep the confident facade due to the inmense pain he's in (I can expand on this in another post if you'd like), so he looks extremely vulnerable and small.

After seeing Kakashi in this state, Rin can't ignore anymore that Kakashi is a kid even younger than herself and inmediately drops her crush.

So now Rin sees Kakashi as more like a little brother, and she decides to look after him. (This comes from what little caracterization we have in canon of her. In the scene where Obito dies, while Kakashi is crying and shaking, Rin inmediately stops crying when Obito asks her to do the transplant, showing her incredible mental strength).

And she takes care of Kakashi not just because she understands how important he was to Obito, but also as a way to cope, in the same selfless (but unhealthy) way she's always known. She needs this, needs to take care of someone vulnerable to help herself. After all, she was really messed up by Konoha and the war, she is still a child soldier who got her obsession with being useful to the village drilled into her head. So she distracts herself from her own grief by helping Kakashi with his, thinking it's what Obito would have wanted, even if it's slowly destroying her.

Because here's the thing, Rin underestimates how important she truly was to Obito and prioritizes Kakashi over her, in the same way Kakashi prioritizes Rin. Neither realizes that both of them were the most important people to Obito.

So in summary, Rin seals her own pain and refuses to cry or show weakness in front of Kakashi (supporting him like she supported Obito) but at the same time she spends most of her time with him with the excuse that she’s helping him with the pain from the Sharingan.

They sometimes sleep in the same hospital bed, hugging and exhausted, and then there can be heard soft sobs and sniffles. But it's impossible to know which one of them is making those noises.
