Basouna is a small countryside village in Saharsa district of Bihar, India. Not much is known about this village but the legends say that it was established by followers of "Dharamraj, God of Truth". This village, however only 7 kilometres away from Distt. Headquarters., is underdeveloped with most of the inhabitants being based on farming. The most influential person ever of this locality was Late Pt. Dhaneshwar Jha. He was a great follower of Lord Krishna.He was a man of dynamic character. The first English graduate from village was Shri Gangadhar Jha. His son Mukesh Jha was also first person to travell USA, England and other places. With the invent of Panchayti Raj, things have started changing of late. Now more and more people are getting rights conscious. Currently Basouna is part of Bharrahi Panchayat. Also there are lot of people from Basouna who service in Indian army and contribute towards growth & security of India
