Although a new director ([[Chakri Toleti]]) was brought onchosen to direct the prequel, [[Yuvan Shankar Raja]], who had worked on the score of ''[[Billa (2007 film)|Billa]]'' (2007), was retained as the composer of ''[[Billa II]]'', becomingwhich became his fifth project starring [[Ajith Kumar]]. The audio launch was initially to be released in mid-March 2012, but was then pushed to second week of April. The soundtrack received positive response. Kaushik L. M. from Behindwoods.com rated the album 3.5 out of 5 and stated: "The Thala Yuvan combo continues to rock with another youthful album.
