Demos Helsinki is a Finnish future-oriented think tank focused on governance and societal innovation for the development of a democratic and sustainable society. [1] The organisation receives a mix of public and private funding. [2]When it was founded in 2005, Demos Helsinki became Finland's first independent think tank, and it remains one of the country's most prominent advocates of social change internationally, receiving regular coverage from notable English-language newspapers, including The Guardian, Forbes, and The Economist. Aside from its headquarters in Helsinki, Demos also has an office in Paris. [5]
Policy Influence
The organisation has been actively involved in increasing environmental and social sustainability of urban planning projects, and has been a long-standing partner to the city of Helsinki in its local sustainability programmes. [6] [7] The French RATP Group is also one of Demos Helsinki's major clients, with their collaboration being aimed at improving the societal impacts of Paris's public transport infrastructure, whilst decreasing its environmental footprint.
