According to the [[2007 Peru Census]], the language learnt first by most of the residents was [[Spanish language|Spanish]] (86.63%) followed by [[Quechua language|Quechua]] (9.29%). The Quechua varieties spoken in Junín are [[Huanca Quechua]] (in the SouthSouthwest), [[Yaru Quechua]] (in the NorthNorthwest, especially in [[Tarma Province]]) and [[Chanka Quechua]] (especially in [[Satipo Province]] in the East).
