In 2017, Dropbox relocated from its 333 Brennan Street location to occupy 736,000 square feet of office space at 16th and Owens, a four-building complex, in Mission Bay. The sheer size of office space rented made it the largest office space lease in San Francisco history.

During the Covid-19 pandemic with the rise of remote work, Dropbox became a fully remote company.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Dropbox's Mission Bay headquarters at 1800 Owens Street sold for $1.08 billion in April of 2021, the second-largest real estate transaction for a single property in the city's history, falling only behind the $1.2 billion sale of the Embarcadero Center in 1998, a much larger complex.
