Maurizio Giuliano (born 1975 in Milan) is a social scientist with a background in academia and media.

An Italian and British citizen, he earned a degree in social sciences from Oxford University in 1996, where he was directly tutored by distinguished scholar Ngaire Woods, and a master from Cambridge University in 1997.

During his time at Oxford, he was treasurer of the Oxford University L'Chaim Society, a prominent student society ran by renowned American rabbi Shmuley Boteach active in promoting inter-faith dialogue.

In 1997 he joined the Centre for Social Studies (CESOC) in Santiago, Chile.

He published and edited several studies, including two books on Cuban politics, as well as numerous articles. His schoarly work on Cuba, notably on the 1996 purge of Havana's Centre for American Studies (CEA) (contained in the book "El Caso CEA" published in 1998[1]), continues to be regarded as a milestone, which exposed the internal conflicts between Cuba's political apparatus and the country's intelligentsia, previously unknown.[2] His other regions of interest have included Timor-Leste and Myanmar.

Through his work, he has travelled to every single sovereign country in the world, which led in 2004 to his entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest person to visit all independent nations.[3]
