The film had the working title ''The Last Word'', and [[Kim Fupz Aakeson]]'s script was originally set in Copenhagen, Denmark, the capital of his homeland, but was transferred to Glasgow, Scotland, after director [[David Mackenzie (director)|David Mackenzie]]'s homeland.
