While Mark Evanier is quoted that the direct market in its first year (circa 1974) grew to being 25% of the market. Bob Beerbohm in the 2000 Comic Book Artist piece says Marvel President James Galton in 1979 informed the comic book retailers the direct msrket as of then only constituted 5% of their comics cash flow.
