Welney used to be in Cambridgeshire, but the boundary moved so it's now in Norfolk. I don't have a source for this to hand though. Shermozle (talk) 23:33, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

The Welney Website is not confused. The situation is exactly as quoted, perhaps the reader has misunderstood. The western and southern boundaries of the Parish of Welney are the same as the county boundary between Norfolk and Cambridge. Two others corrections to note. (1) The ecclisiastical Parish of Welney was created in 1862 (under an act passed by Government in 1846) when it was split from Upwell. About one-third was then in the Isle of Ely part of Cambridgeshire, and two-thirds in Norfolk. Under Local Government re-organisation in 1894, the Isle of Ely/Cambridgeshire part was transferred to Norfolk. (2) The parish of Welney is in the Borough, not District, of King's Lynn & West Norfolk. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Welneyboy (talk • contribs) 21:57, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
