The Murdocks are a rock band of three members which was formed in 2003 in Texas and is currently signed with Surprise Truck Entertainment.

History

In 2003, The Murdocks formed in Austin, TX with Franklin Morris fulfilling vocal and guitar duties, and Tim Dittmar and Robert Houghton fulfilling drum and bass duties respectively.

In 2004 the band got off to an ambitious start and has since toured from coast to coast, playing almost 200 shows and selling thousands records through touring and a DIY ethos. Their first album, Surrendender, was met with critical acclaim and national attention from both press and radio. The band debuted on the CMJ charts and climbed to #80. .[citation needed] The band has played at various industry festivals, including South By Southwest, the CMJ Festival, and The Warped Tour. Over the course of these tours and shows, the band has played with a list of artists that are both similar and disimilar, such as The Offspring, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, The Thrills, and countless others. In the last few years The Murdocks have done countless national tours and 5 official releases. The latest is the Roar! EP, released on the Surprise Truck Entertainment label (Hollywood, CA) in April of 2008, with a full-length album to follow by year's end. The band has recieved interest from major labels, but have maintained their integrity to release their music without major label editing/interference.

The Roar EP was released on April 1, 2008, and was met with praise from many websites and journalists. Thus far in 2008, the band has played many local shows in Texas, and recently played a radio show on college station KRTU for over an hour. Throughout 2008, the band plans to tour both the East and West coasts.

In 2008, it was announced by the band that The Murdocks would play with 90's mainstream band Cake.
