Get Certificates (originals as photocopies are no good) - your birth certificate, your parent’s birth and marriage certificates, your UK grandparent's birth certificate and marriage certificate
 
Timing - you should apply around 3 months before you want to go - with the process taking between 4 and 6 weeks.
 
Go online to apply - http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx
Visa type - select "Work"
Purpose - select "Employment non points based"
From options - select "UK Ancestry"
 
Biometrics - print off your application and take it to the biometrics centre you have booked in with as part of the online application process
 
Send in your Application – as well as the printed and signed application you will also need to provide documentation that shows how you won’t be a burden on the UK government during your stay in the UK. For example details of job opportunities, CV, bank statements, tickets, accommodation plans, etc. The application should be sent as registered post and include a stamped return registered envelope.
