The Upper West Side is bounded on the north by the Scajaquada Expressway ([[New York State Route 198|NY 198]]) and the [[Buffalo State College]] campus. On the east is Richmond/Baynes/Lafayette Avenue and the [http://www.elmwoodvillage.org Elmwood Village]. To the south border is Hampshire Street and Albany Street, and to the west is the Niagara River.

The main streets which run through the Upper West Side are Lafayette Avenue and West Ferry Street (E-W) and Richmond Avenue, Grant Street and Niagara Street (N-S). Colonial Circle is located at the intersection of Lafayette and Richmond, and is one of three circles which comprise the northern portion of the Olmsted Park and Parkway system. The monumental Richardson Complex lies just south of Buffalo State College. Here on grounds designed by Frederick Law Olmsted sits H.H. Richardson's masterpiece, the [[H. H.
