Following the end of the First World War in 1918, the town was part of the [[Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes]] (renamed the [[Kingdom of Yugoslavia]] in 1929). From 1929 to 1941, Požarevac was part of the [[Danube Banovina]] of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
