Talk:2024 Bosnia and Herzegovina floods

Title

edit

So far, I'm not seeing an obvious common name in sources. Most victims reported so far are from Jablanica. If this trend continues, it would make sense to move it to 2024 Jablanica flood. Daß Wölf 14:29, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

WP:In the news nomination

@Mhare, Bakir123, and Belmin.agic: Thanks for working on the article. It's been nominated for the WP:ITN section (see Wikipedia:In the news/Candidates#Bosnia and Herzegovina floods), but there hasn't been much input there yet. I think somebody from BiH might be better able to comment on the scale of the situation. Daß Wölf 13:13, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Flag salad "Reactions" section

edit

As many of you know, most editors despise list-formatted "Reactions" sections, especially the flag icons. These sections should be converted into prose—not a bulleted (flagged) list. Sourcing should not be primary, such as tweets, and should be more than just politicians mouthing platitudes. Abductive (reasoning) 20:32, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

There was no need for a wholesale removal. I've restored parts of the info in prose format, since the majority of it was indeed more than just platitudes. It would've been better to check in detail what kind of relief, if any, each country or organisation provided, before deleting the section. Daß Wölf 17:35, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I did not remove anything. If users don't want editors removing contentious, unencyclopedic material from articles, the solution is to not put the contentious, unencyclopedic material in the articles in the first place. Abductive (reasoning) 06:00, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Another editor removed the Reactions section, I merely posted here since it's as good a place to continue the discussion as any. The material could well be described as unencyclopedic and WP:UNDUE, but it was in no way contentious and only a single source was primary (in as much as it was announced by the relevant country's state television; there were zero tweets). In particular, a good few sentences described rescue efforts, and more was to be found in the sources linked. It is better to salvage and improve than to WP:BITE.
