Windjammers

Is Windjammers to be released as part of the AA collection? [1] — TPX 20:09, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Xbox One / Windows 10 Store / Nintendo Switch

Something needs to be done to the tables to incorporate modern platforms the games have been released on. For instance, Metal Slug and World Heroes for NeoGeo have already been rated for Xbox One. Since they are "Play Anywhere" titles they will be releasing to Windows 10 store also. I'm proposing a new column to someone denounce platforms. Consider either removing a column (I propose deleting Asia or the original release date column), or compacting size of existing columns. Thoughts? --Mordecairule 18:42, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

I agree. The table needs to be modified to acknowledge the growing number of platforms. The release dates currently represent PS4 only. We could add a Platform column as you suggest, but any idea how to handle release dates? — TPX 14:19, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

The Release Schedule debacle

Lately, I had seen a effort to omit the “Release Schedule” from the article. While it’s understandable why some want to remove it; seeing the effort to maintain it redundant, reduce recent “vandalism” to the section, or believing the page in general shouldn’t be treated as news. I think it’s doing all of us as readers a disservice as a casual reader shouldn’t go through the headache of looking up the official lineup through a weekly livestream on Nico Nico, let alone translating it and determining which games are all ready out. I’m going to restore it anyways, and I suggest anyone editing the article to use a screen grab from the release schedule from Hamster’s own livestreams if necessary. I'm against having such a section be in the article. It falls under WP:NOT, because all it is is a random mish-mash of games that requires constant maintenance and updating, which shouldn't be necessary for an article about a brand of game re-releases. I've removed the list again because it goes against that policy. Anybody with a reliable source on a new release can easily add it to the corresponding lists. This article is massive enough, we certainly don't need another unnecessary section that just makes it longer. Please stop trying to add the section back into the article. I just don’t get why NOW it’s being deemed unnecessary after being present for years. I’ve read the articles related to Virtual Console and even edited The Pinball Arcade article on occasion, I did not see their respective upcoming line-up sections, and the length of the articles as a whole being the point of contention outside of cleaning up false entries. I’ll say it again, no casual reader will want to go through the headache of determining what games are next, hunt down the list from Hamster Corporation themselves, and translate it. I don't really ever edit that article, it hasn't been on my watchlist until very recently. I've removed it because it doesn't follow site policy, not to hinder readers. Readers are coming to this page to read what Arcade Archives is about, not what games have been teased/confirmed — if they would want to know that, they'd go to a news site. I fail to understand your reasoning for keeping this because it goes against Wikipedia guidelines. Stop adding it back. Namcokid47 ^(Contribs) 18:29, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Try looking up ‘Arcade Archives Upcoming’ or ‘Arcade Archives Line-up’ on Google, and find a list of games that is up to date as of today.

As of those policies under “Wikipedia is not a crystal ball” Paragraph 5: “ Wikipedia is not a collection of product announcements and rumors. Although Wikipedia includes up-to-date knowledge about newly revealed products, short articles that consist of only product announcement information are not appropriate. Until such time that more encyclopedic knowledge about the product can be verified, product announcements should be merged to a larger topic (such as an article about the creator(s), a series of products, or a previous product) if applicable.”

Arcade Archives is defined as a “a series of products” and the games included in the release schedule are defined as upcoming titles in a “a series of products” with some encyclopedic knowledge about the specific product/game. (links to each game’s wikipedia page) If the release schedule was it’s own article, it would make sense to remove it. Since the Release Schedule is a part of a greater Arcade Archives article; It isn’t really violating this rule. Zacattack99 (talk) 19:29, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Delisted and modified Neo Geo games

I've recently learned that there have sadly been some happenings in this area in the late summer and fall of 2020. Neo Geo sports games with Taiwan have been modified or delisted. For instance of some examples, it appears that Baseball Stars 2 has been edited to remove the name and the Super Sidekick sequels are now gone (Possibly too poor of a seller to justify digging into old code to make similar adjustments?). These aren't the only affected titles, but I don't have a full list.

Presumably this is due to SNK being Chinese owned in recent years (Which is now changing, although I assume a significant minority ownership stake will remain in Chinese hands after this controversial Saudi Arabian individual purchases a 51% ownership stake in SNK).

Anyways, I thought I'd mention it in case others feel like this information should be reflected in the article. Not necessarily speculation on motives or reasons for these changes since there's not likely going to be a verified source that proves that Chinese ownership of SNK is behind these delistings and edits, but rather it seems proper for the article to reflect which games have been delisted or have seen their content edited from their original release.

I'm not much for doing the legwork to do such edits here on Wikipedia (Luckily, many other people are more motivated on here), but thought I'd bring it up in case others feel like it's a good idea and may actually want to take the time to research this a bit, modify the listings here to reference what's been pulled from sale or has been edited, and provide reputable citations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:6000:A645:2100:B9A7:112:8D14:66F8 (talk) 13:15, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Arcade Archives Release Schedule

The titles Ganbare Ginkun and Toukidenshou Angel Eyes are still confirmed, but both sources currently in the section are over two years old now. Can someone provide a more recent source for each of them? --MDPgamer97 (talk) 02:13, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
