editIt still needs some improvement, but I think that it is fine on Wikipedia... Ajraddatz (Talk) 00:41, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Amphibious warfare ship CO community
editThe article contains this interesting statement: "Commanding officer and executive officer positions aboard large amphibious assault ships are also assigned to captains and alternate between a naval aviator or naval flight officer in one position and a surface warfare officer in the other." Firstly this -- and much other content here besides -- needs a source. Secondly, I wonder which classes of ship it applies to? Specifically to the full-length flight deck types (LHA and LHD), or more broadly? I notice that the Lincoln's new captain, (necessarily) an aviation-community officer, previously commanded the San Diego (a LPD, having more limited aviation capabilities). Perhaps the same applies there, or else it's some more ad hoc mixture of aviation and surface warfare communities. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 02:04, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
Only military context?
editIs this term only used in military context and unusual on merchant ships? If so, there should be a link to the respective term for merchant vessels. --Ariser (talk) 11:37, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
Globalise template
editHey there, I added a template because the article is centered on the US and US navy. I'm not a seafarer myself, so I wouldn't know how to fix it. Have a great day! :) JuxtaposedJacob (talk) 04:15, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
