Great job in finding Gus Belt's Obituary
editHello. I have noticed your recent edits on Steak 'n Shake. Great job in finding Gus Belt's Obituary! However, your contribution would be even better if you had included a URL so that other people can see the actual obituary! Did you use either Newspapers.com or Newspaperarchive.com to access the obituary? If so, you could create a clipping (see either WP:Newspapers.com or WP:Newspaperarchive.com on how to make clippings) so that the article could be easier to access. However, if you had used ProQuest, you can include a Proquest link via the Template:ProQuest. Other archives might be more problematic. Did Gus's obituary give more information on his early life, if so the obituary could be used to support statements about his early life that is not mention with the existing citations, such as his involvement in the Marines (in WWI???). Did the obituary mention how his company grew, if so we need to add this to the article such as when he opened his second location in Normal and when he opened his first location outside of his local area. Were there related articles published at the same time that would described the company in more detail? Is the company's logo different from is currently used? Please let me know if you need some help in dealing with ancient newspapers. Thanks again. -- 50.231.49.42 (talk) 23:57, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- I did use Newspapers.com. If I make a clipping on my private account and do not renew my membership in Newspapers.com, will that clipping still be available to link to Wikipedia? OK, now I have the clipping on my Newspapers.com account. How do I link it to Wikipedia? BuffaloBob (talk) 00:09, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
- Good question. I don't have an account on Newspapers.com, but I can point you to Wikipedia talk:Newspapers.com since those wise people may have the answers about what happens to clippings after not renewing your account. If you have a link in your web browser in the form https://www.newspapers.com/clip/... (example: https://www.newspapers.com/clip/15269766/big-boy-alaska/ ) then use that URL in the {{Cite news}} template. If you want to look at a WP article that you can use as an example, please look at the history section of Bob's Big Boy#History and look for the old newspapers. User:Box73 did a great job in hunting down the ancient newspaper article clippings for this article. (He is also very friendly and a great source of how-to information. He needs to write about about the history of Bob's Big Boy since he has spent a long of time gathering all of this information that others are including in their books without giving him credit.) Let me know if you need more help. -- 50.231.49.42 (talk) 00:57, 15 April 2023 (UTC) Corrected glaring typos. -- 50.231.49.42 (talk) 22:37, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

editThanks for your contributions to Service Corps of Retired Executives. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:This is the logo for the Service Corps of Retired Executives.png
editA tag has been placed on File:This is the logo for the Service Corps of Retired Executives.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Minâ ď¸raxÂŤÂŚtalkÂŚÂť 04:07, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
