North Italy relief location map 1905
editThe Graphic Designer's Barnstar | ||
As a small thank you for your amazing work in creating the North Italy relief location map 1905. noclador (talk) 22:25, 29 January 2019 (UTC) |
- @Noclador: Thanks, for that. For the map in the article, I think you/we have to add the geographic limits for the map, otherwise wikipedia wont know where to put the places. I don't know exactly in which form it has to be added as it's different in those two files: file:Italy location map 1905.svg, file:Italy location map.svg. If you need help to find the limits just ping me. --Goran tek-en (talk) 14:27, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Noclador: This page seems to explain it, Template:Location_map. --Goran tek-en (talk) 15:47, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
Great! Thank you! :-) I am still travelling for biz and won't have time until Sunday. I will get back to it all soon. noclador (talk) 10:15, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

Can you help?
editI have a request at both commons and en.WP for eight pieces of graphics to cleanup for use in Cleavage (breasts). Though the graphics are quite simple, I am afraid the risque and lowbrow nature of the graphics and the article is a barrier to getting help. Can you take a look at them? The article is very close to GA already. Aditya(talk • contribs) 00:57, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- Aditya Kabir I can help you but not for a week or so. I will work from this request so you can close the other one. I will probably need your assistans but I will ping you, thanks. --Goran tek-en (talk) 13:25, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Maps for the Battle of Marathon
editGoran, thanks for answering my request for help. How do you want to communicate? I can send you the to-scale drawing plus some other maps of the battlefield for your reference. How best to do that? I have never done this, so you will have to lead me by the hand. My email addr is pdowd@sherickent.com if you want to use email. Joe Bfsplk (talk) 19:36, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
Goran, first draft of the base map looks very good. I will review and respond with the information you have requested. Joe Bfsplk (talk) 19:38, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- Joe Bfsplk You don't have to write here also it just confuses me. It is enough on the request in map graphic lab.

Ambox warning pn.svg
editHello,
For some reason I can't log in on Commons. Can you replace the current Ambox warning pn.svg file there with File:398-338 Ambox warning pn.svg? I would recommend suggesting in the summary that anyone who objects to it start a discussion on the talk page for the file on Commons. Thanks for your help, DesertPipeline (talk) 06:43, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
- DesertPipeline I don't understand, if you have a global account it must just be something temporary.
- I don't either understand which file to replace with which file, you have to link to two files and be very specific. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 20:17, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
- Whenever I try to log in, it says "There was a problem with your session". It's been happening for months now.
- Anyway, what I meant was, please replace c:File:Ambox warning pn.svg with c:File:398-338 Ambox warning pn.svg. Thanks, DesertPipeline (talk) 04:55, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- Addendum: By "replace" I mean "upload the 398-338 version to the Ambox warning pn.svg file as a new version". I hope I made sense this time. DesertPipeline (talk) 06:21, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- DesertPipeline That happens to me also sometimes. What I have found is how long I have had a login session or just my browser running for more than a day has something to do with that. What I do is I force a reload of the page ctrl+reload (might not be crtl on your system) and then it works.
- Sorry to continue with questions, the two images has very different image sizes?
- c:File:Ambox warning pn.svg is used in many many places, is it wise to upload another version and with another image size? To me this can only lead to big problems every where, so I'm not sure I want to do that.
- What is it you want to achieve by this? For testing you don't need do that, please explore, thanks. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 18:09, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- The intent is to make the change and then see if anyone objects; if they do, it can be reverted back to the previous version (and we can get more input on how to fix the shadow). Also, sorry for the slow reply. DesertPipeline (talk) 13:40, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- DesertPipeline As I explained before I don't feel comfortable of doing this whit an image in such great use. So I'm sorry but you will have to do that by your self. If your login is not working yet try an incognito or private window of you browser, or another browser. Hope it will work out for you. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 15:34, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

About map of Katzianer's Campaign
editHello,
I just received notification that You said that You can do a map of Katzianer's Campaign. Sorry about me not responding, for some reason, when you took the original request on 3 January, I received no notification about the activity on that post, so I couldn't respond either. I only received one now.
I can provide you with all the info, and I am willing to go through with this. Regards! Franjo Tahy (talk) 18:38, 13 January 2023 (UTC)

editWikipedia:Graphics Lab/Map workshop/Archive/Aug 2023#Port Phillip Bay and Preservation Island thread was archived. Nineteenth century works if you think that is best. I really appreciate you. Sorry, today has been a zoo. SusunW (talk) 20:26, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

- Goran tek-en, cool and thanks! We don't have those seasons. Literally it's 25-35 year round and either wet or dry. Rain daily from June to November, limited rain otherwise. May is our "summer" when it reaches 40-45, but then goes back to 25-35. I love that it never gets cold and that we always have sun. We literally live outside. SusunW (talk) 18:43, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- @SusunW Sounds very appealing to me. I live in the south of Sweden and we have four seasons with a temperature range of + 25-30 down to - 10-15 for shorter periods.
- Where is it you live? if you think it's to personal don't answer.
- All the best --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 09:58, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
- Goran tek-en in the land of the Maya, Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. 4 hours due west of Cancun (gringolandia, where we never go because it is not Mexico) and due south of New Orleans, Louisiana, if one crosses via the Gulf of Mexico. Anything below 25 is terrible because 1) we don't have the clothes for it and 2) the houses are not built to keep the weather out but rather to allow the outdoors in, so they are drafty on purpose and have no heat. We love it here, but many immigrants miss the seasons of the north or think it's too hot. There are a lot of snow birds, people who come down in November and leave in April. In truth, most everyone who can drives the 20 minutes to the beach and lives in a beach pueblo in May to avoid the heat in the city. For me it is perfect - really good medical (and inexpensive), lots of cultural activities (free), excellent food, easy access to the beach if you want it, pretty much everything you want or need can be found in the stores (although snow birds complain that they can't find their junk food, LOL), and best of all, really friendly people. It's a cosmopolitan city of about 1 million people. Buses go anywhere for under $1 US, Uber allows you travel faster or in smaller groups, and those who don't care about their carbon footprint drive. (We don't see the point of owning a car or paying maintenance on it when we can go anywhere we like for less than 200 pesos. Most everywhere we go on a typical day is under 50 pesos.) Unlike gringolandia, at least rudimentary Spanish is necessary unless one intends to only engage with non-locals, but lots of the native people speak Spanish, Mayan, and English, so it's fairly easy to learn enough Spanish to get by. SusunW (talk) 14:27, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
- @SusunW That really sounds like a place for me and very different from here. We build our houses to keep the weather out and keep the warmth in. It's only for a short period the other way around.
- I live on the countryside on a very small dirt road in an old house which used to be a small farm and built in the late 19th century. So we do have to have a car or else we couldn't get around.
- And now we are preparing os for the winter and have gathered a lot of wood for our fireplace as the cost of electricity has gone up extremely much for the last years, exactly why is not really clear but to some extend it has to do with the Russian war on Ukraine.
- All the best to you. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 12:11, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- Goran tek-en probably both the war and the interruption of shipping and manufacturing services during covid. Recovery from both is likely to be long, sadly. I totally get needing a vehicle for rural living. Same could be said here if one opted to live at the beach. We tried both, but after living in a small village in western Belize for nearly 3 years before we moved up here, we decided for us being in the city was a better fit. We wanted services and goods to be easily accessible. I broke my arm in Belize and we waited 2 1/2 hours for an orthopedic surgeon to reach us, which was an epiphany of sorts for us. We figured we could get to the beach anytime we wanted via the shuttle that runs there multiple times a day, but being far from services could be life threatening. Even if you don't live here, the archeological sites, cenotes, cultural events are worth experiencing, possibly a visit is in order (but not in May, LOL)? SusunW (talk) 13:45, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- @SusunW Where one lives is also (sometimes) depending on where/how your live is at this time, one has different needs for different periods of life.
- I just looked at your user page again and I'm amazed/impressed on how many articles you have created/being involved in, how do you find the time?
- I'm glad you do because from what I can see the type of contributions you do is unfortunately deeply needed in this world of today.
- Oh I would love to go there but it would include flying and right now that's not something I do happily or easily, sadly. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 17:06, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- Goran tek-en as we say in the Caribbean, tru dat. (That is true) In answer to the question, I am compelled to make the time to write. I think it is impossible for humanity to recognize and respect our diversity if our history doesn't reflect our diversity. My tiny contribution is to try to make people who traditionally have been part of marginalized groups more visible. Their struggles and contributions by pushing boundaries in our collective history, IMO, have made a better world for all of us. I am forever a dreamer. And I get it about flying. This trip was the first we have made in 5 years and it was really, really hard to accomplish. The world has changed, and I think, not for the better. SusunW (talk) 17:32, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- @SusunW I really want all knowledge to be free and available for everyone and that's why I do graphic work at commons. So when we combine our two sides (with every one else within wikimedia) I do hope that we add a positiv drop (or maybe a tear of joy) of knowledge and awareness for people.
- I have been around this life for a good number of years and I have done a fair bit of travelling in different ways (lucky generation in that sense) but now a lot of the joy with travelling has gone away. I think it's really sad because it's so important to meet people different from yourself, and see other cultures, it broadens your understanding of people/life and it makes one more humble.
- So I guess we have to find other ways of travelling which is not so bad for the environment, not doing it so often or for longer periods at each travel.
- So yes, the world has really changed in just a few years.
- But just us having this ongoing conversation is a positiv thing and it fills me with joy and warmth, so thanks for this. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 17:35, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
- Goran tek-en yes, to everything you said. And I too have so enjoyed working with you and meeting you. In a world gone mad, the connections we make with others have become increasingly important. I have always been one that collects people, not things. SusunW (talk) 17:44, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

- Goran tek-en Yes, we will. I am so happy to have made your acquaintance and look forward to our next collaboration. SusunW (talk) 14:11, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- @SusunW I just have to complain a bit.
- Our weather has made a real change regarding the seasons and now it's autumn; colder (around 12 C, and dropping, during day), windy, rainy.
- I have to start to wear trousers (long pants) and I haven't had any on me since May when I started to wear shorts, it's sad. I never use socks and during the same time as I wear shorts I use shoes very little, I love walking barefooted but now I have to use shoes more outside.
- The only advantage to this season (and winter to come) is that we use our wood stove (similar to this) on a daily basis and it's comforting and relaxing with a fire like that.
- So just some complaints and I envy the climate you live in but I'm sure there are some disadvantages with that also, maybe to hot some periods.
- So be well and let us enjoy the small things. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 10:37, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- I literally have 1 pair of closed-toed shoes. Whenever I wear them my feet rebel as they are used to chanclas of which I have an indoor pair, an outdoor pair, and a spare in case one of the others is wet. (The chanclas are for walking in and around my house and back yard). I also have 1 actual pair of sandals in case I am going somewhere. All of our clothes are 100% cotton, including my one and only sweater. My husband does wear jeans almost all the time, basically to protect him from mosquies, because you know, dengue, chikungunya, malaria, etc. We've been lucky, the city sprays regularly and even though there have been periods of outbreak, knock wood, we've not gotten any mosquie-born infections since we moved to the tropics. It's just after 7 a.m. and 26°, 12° sounds deadly. Sending some of my heat and sunshine to you. SusunW (talk) 13:29, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

@龍雲旗: You are confusing me even more now with not answering and adding requests.
Please write in direct language what you actually are requesting for Dragon-Cloud Flag, nothing else, because right now I don't know. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 11:33, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- So funny ! Thank you for your disclosure. It turns out you don't know anything, yet you still drew a green dragon, while I was just trying to help you understand how to draw it correctly. I have asked the wiki's "artists" no less than ten times to try to interpret history correctly without making too many inferences, but they instead asked me to provide the source. But when I give them a lot of books, they say "don't know" and "can't read". Okay, I just suggest you change the clouds from green to white, the dragon from green to blue (you can refer to any Arab or Chinese, or Victorian English ceramic bowl or plate for this color).Again, I tried to create an account to help you, not to offend you. Because if I look down on you, I won't ask for anything ! (龍雲旗 (talk) 06:42, 2 December 2023 (UTC))
- @龍雲旗 Thanks for the direct info.
- Please understand that it's very hard for us graphic workers to understand/have knowledge for every subject we work on.
- 1 We want to understand what you request. 2 Then we need just the amount of information needed to be able to do the work, if we need more info we ask for it. We are IMAGE people not TEXT people.
- I will be back with a draft, thanks --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 12:49, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- @龍雲旗
- Those drafts are PNG versions of the original SVG file I'm working in and will upload to commons.
- Those drafts are shown for proofreading only.

edit- I actually still like the original flag better : . It's really very simple, especially the dragon is very elegant and has a Mona Lisa face, meaning you can't tell if you look at it whether it's happy or sad. If you look at the animal images on porcelain or wooden pillars in Vietnam, you will see this common denominator. It is a thousand-year-old artistic tradition of the Vietnamese folks (I don't dare say several thousand of years like political propaganda, but at least it was expressed ten centuries ago). Animals in Southeast Asian art generally do not try to appear ferocious or too gentle as often seen in China or India, because it reflects the political ideology of the people of this region to always be tolerant in all circumstances. However, to create it you need a lot of time, so I'm not too strict with this issue. After all, you're not being paid to look good or be right (I'm being sincere here, not putting you down). So you just need to make the dragon a little bigger, because compared to the original model, your dragon is a bit small compared to the fỉeld. :D Now I recommend the same for the Emperor's Standard. In fact, the green dragon is something very strange to Asian customs, so it rarely appears in art. Finally, I would like to thank you for your work and reception ! - @龍雲旗
- You have some really deep knowledge about this, huge to my understanding.
- Why did you write it here, there is no request?
- Why are so many words linked to articles, is that an automatic funktion?
- Who is the Chinese text for?

[... more copyright infringing text removed ...]
- My apologies. I should probably have given you more explanation than just "copyright infringing text removed". The English text that I removed was copied from a page at www.opensubtitles.org, with a copyright notice saying "© 2006-2023 opensubtitles.org", and nothing indicating free licensing for reuse, either on that page or, as far as I could find, anywhere on the website. The Chinese text is from a novel titled 大燕公子 (Mr. Dayan) by an author called 山中老犬 (Shānzhōng Lǎo Quǎn). It appears on a web site containing the copyright notice "Copyright © 2023 UU看书 All Rights Reserved". JBW (talk)
