The outreach department of WikiProject Robotics is a centralized work area for project recruitment and member interaction efforts. The new programs currently underway are a monthly project newsletter and a welcoming message for new members of the project; further ideas are always welcome, of course!
An open letter to our new members
editIf you would like to write articles on robotics, please join us by adding your username to our Participants page. If English is not your native language, you might prefer to work on articles with us at the Simple English Wikipedia. Robotics is a difficult subject, but you don't have to be a genius and you don't need to know much about Wikipedia. You do need to read the pages WP:V and WP:OR, in order to understand what kinds of newspaper articles and other sources you'll need to support your point. Admins have suggested that you probably want at least two good sources before you start a new robotics article...and don't be disappointed if they delete your article even if you do have sources that you think are good, just tell us about it, and we'll try to fix the problem. It's also very important not to write about anything that would help you or people you know if it got published in Wikipedia...so don't write about the robot you created, or your school's robotics team and how great they are, or work your grandfather did in robotics. But it's completely alright to leave a message for us, or leave a message on the discussion (talk) page of an article, telling us where to find your information, or inviting someone else to write the article because of your conflict of interest. Even if you don't have a direct connection to what you want to write about, it's important to maintain a Neutral point of view, as best you can.
There are many experienced editors involved in this project, and we will be happy to answer any questions you have and help you write your articles. And it's worth the trouble: Wikipedia is the top .org site in the world by number of hits, and the number one site in the world in credibility and goodwill. - Dan Dank55 (talk) 21:50, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Note to people I referred to this page: I am no longer involved with WikiProject Robotics. - Dan Dank55 (talk) 18:23, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and welcome to WikiProject Robotics! Our goals are to standardize the structure and content of all Robotics articles, improve Wikipedia's coverage of these articles (hopefully propelling them to featured article status), and serve as the central resource for all discussions and information related to Robotics on Wikipedia.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a few expanding departments, which handle article quality assessment, member recruitment and project awareness and article improvement collaborations.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask one of the project participants or post a question on the talk page. We'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!
