editBorrowed from Old Khmer -am- on the basis of pairs such as ขลัง (klǎng, “potent”) and กำลัง (gam-lang, “vigour”) from the ancestors of modern Khmer ខ្លាំង (khlang) and កម្លាំង (kɑmlang).
