Phono-semantic compound (形聲形声, OC *hljaɡs) and ideogrammic compound (會意会意) : phonetic (OC *djaɡ, stone) + semantic (fire). In the small seal script has corrupted into ⿸广廿. Shuowen Jiezi interprets it as ideogrammic compound (會意会意) : 广 (roof) + (light).

Compare (OC *daːɡs, *daːɡ) and (OC *ljaːɡ).
