Former Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, who died at Devalokam here last Thursday evening, will be laid to rest at Mount Horeb Ashram, Sasthamkotta, in Kollam district at 13:00 hrs on January 28.
The body would be kept at the Old Seminary here for public homage till 09:00 hrs today, later taken to Elia Cathedral and from there to Sasthamkotta at 13:00 hrs.
Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Didymus-I would be the main celebrant at the funeral ceremony tomorrow.
A holiday has been declared for all educational institutions of the Church on Friday and Saturday as mark of respect to the departed spiritual leader, a Church spokesman said.
