Catherine ‘Kathleen’ Finegan, native of Bantry, West Cork, Ireland. After emigrating to Birmingham, United Kingdom[1], whilst married and raising a family of 6 children[2], she studied at Matthew Boulton College and the Open University, campaigned for social justice issues, became a Labour party politician and the first Irish woman to ever be elected to Birmingham City Council[3] eventually going on to be bestowed the title of Honorary Alderman[4] of the City of Birmingham.
