Kyedae Alicia Shymko, born on December 1, 2001, known professionally as Kyedae, is a Japanese-Canadian Twitch streamer and YouTuber.

Early Life and Education

She grew up in a small town in the United States and developed a passion for gaming from an early age. Kyedae spent most of her free time playing video games, which led her to pursue a degree in game design. She graduated with honors and worked for several gaming studios before deciding to become a full-time streamer.[1] Kyedae is engaged to Tyson Ngo, known online as TenZ, a professional esports player and Twitch streamer.[2]

On August 16, 2022, the couple announced their engagement.[3]The couple kept their relationship a secret for eight months, which has generated interest among fans.[2]

On March 3, 2023, Kyedae announced via Twitter that she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow.[4][5]She shared this news with her followers on both Twitter and Twitch, explaining that her stream schedule might become inconsistent due to her treatment. [6]

In September 2023, Kyedae revealed that she was officially off chemotherapy, although her treatment was not yet fully complete.[4][7]

Career

Rise to fame

Kyedae began her streaming career on Twitch in October 2020[8]. Since October 2020, Kyedae has gained a significant following, amassing 172,000 subscribers on YouTube and acquiring 288,000 followers on Twitch within less than a year.[9] Kyedae's big break came when she was featured on the front page of Twitch, significantly boosting her follower count. She became known for her entertaining streams and collaborations with other popular streamers.[1]

100 Thieves

In April 2021, Kyedae joined the American esports organization 100 Thieves as a content creator, becoming their first international streamer.[9][10]Her tenure with 100 Thieves lasted three years, during which she participated in many videos for the organization’s YouTube channel and maintained a regular streaming schedule.[10][11]

On January 23, 2024, Kyedae announced her departure from 100 Thieves, thanking the organization for believing in her at the start of her career.[11][12]

Recent Developments

In early 2024, Kyedae made headlines again when she revealed that she had declined an offer from the streaming platform Kick. The offer came after allegations surfaced that Kick staff had attempted to recruit her for a low price due to her cancer diagnosis. Kyedae confirmed she received the offer but chose not to join the platform for moral reasons.[13]
