Grissom attends a hit and run where a car-jacked Hummer has crashed. The culprits had intended to run over a taco vendor's stand, but hit the car by mistake. The car-jacking leads on to the next story.

The Hummer was won by a couple at a motor show. A body is discovered in a motor home at the show. The victim turns out to be a conference assistant (booth babe). After investigating further, Warrick discovers her agent killed her for attempting to blackmail an influential client. The trainer died after shooting a prostitute, lodging the bullet in the wall with human flesh, causing the mold to grow and emit spores, which he inhaled and with a deficient immune system from steroid abuse killed him.

The prostitute leads to the final story, where she finds the body of a 13-year-old boy on a bench. Nick investigates and suspicion eventually falls on the owner of a laundromat. The dead boy and his friend had earlier been drinking after visiting a party. While fooling around, the boy's friend shuts him in a clothes dryer, where he dies. The owner discovers the body and dumps it on the nearby bench.

"4 x 4" is the nineteenth episode in the fifth season of the American crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, set in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Summary

It's a busy night in the lab as the CSIs investigate four cases: A hit and run involving a stolen Hummer, the murder of a Convention Girl, the death of a body builder, and the death of a boy found on a bench. The stories overlap and starts with the most recent, with the characters overlapping and connecting them all together.

While talking to Warrick, the agent yells at another girl who works for him, leading on to the next story.

The girl from the previous story discovers her trainer dead in his studio. While doing the autopsy, Doc Robbins discovers black pus, leading him to declare a biohazard. Sara and Greg are dragged outside and showered. The biohazard turns out to be a false alarm, caused by mold in the wall, which incubated on human flesh.
