# the abundant colourful decoration is uncharacteristic of the eighth century. Rich ornamentation is infrequent in the 8th century manuscripts, mostly they have uncomplicated initials. Palau has three children and three grand children. she has published two books and in italy (where she has lived for the majority of her life) she is a well known lecture. Her house in bologna was recently demolished as the roof came off and all the trees surrounding the house came down the area looks like a wreck. Fortunatly neither palau or her housekeepers where hurt.

Her studies there were culminated in a ‘Doctorat’ in Greek Palaeography. In 1994 she was commissioned to catalogue the Greek manuscripts in the Bodleian Library.

In palaeography Palau propose new criteria to distinguish the 8th century manuscripts form the 9th century:

  1. the development of accentuation, the regularity of the accentuation suggest a date in the 9th century
  2. the abundant colourful decoration is uncharacteristic of the eighth century. Rich ornamentation is infrequent in the 8th century manuscripts, mostly they have uncomplicated initials.
