"Bobby Sox" is a song by the American rock band Green Day, released as the fifth single from the band's fourteenth studio album, Saviors (2024). A music video was released on the same day as the album's release, on January 19, 2024.

Background

Billie Joe Armstrong said that the group wanted to capture the feeling of their early career with a new song, while also making a song that spoke to queer audiences as well. In an interview, he said he originally wrote the song for his wife, but he wanted the song to be noted as a universal anthem by switching "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" to "Do you want to be my boyfriend?"[1]

The song can also be a nod to Billie Joe's bisexuality.[2]

Music video

In the music video, Green Day plays the song in a backyard, while people in the background make out together, get tattoos and jump off roofs.[3] It was directed by Ryan Baxley.
