Geldenhuys is often remembered for punching the NZ Cavaliers captain, Andy Dalton, from behind after a line-out in the game between the New Zeeland Cavaliers and Northern Transvaal. The incident resulted in a broken jaw for Dalton. As punishment, Geldenhuys was not selected for any of the four tests played against New Zealand, although this was denied by the then selectors.{{Fact|date=February 2007}}
