The Rt Rev George Frederick Cecil Carteret, DD (1886[1]– 1932) was a long serving Anglican Bishop of Jamaica from 1916 until 1931. He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford [2] and ordained in 1889[3]. His first posts were curacies at Canterbury, Tulse Hill, and Cheltenham. Later he held incumbencies at of St Paul’s, Southwark and Christ Church, East Greenwich[4]. In 1913 he was appointed Assistant Bishop of Jamaica before promotion to be its Diocesan three years later. He died in Canterbury[5] on 3 January 1932[6].
