Alberto "Bertie" Ruiz, known professionally as tuv, (born March 18, 2002) is an American YouTube documentary commentator. He became popular after he uploaded a video explaining who singer Bella Poarch was and why she was famous on September 12, 2020[2]. History
2012-2016: Fake Car Crash and first videos
On July 10, 2012 Ruiz created the YouTube account TheUnhappyVoice but renamed it Tuv as an acronym for the original name. He mostly used YouTube for watching videos until July 11, 2013 when he uploaded a video called "Car Crash" (later renamed Fake Car Crash) consisting of a street near his Hawthorne home where two green screen cars crash, the video was filmed and edited on Ruiz's iPod touch. Between 2014 and 2015 the videos uploaded were clips of video games with no face-cam. In 2016 a face reveal was uploaded to the channel. The first video uploaded to the channel styled the same as the modern videos was "Instagram Rant" uploaded on June 13, 2016. It features him using Daffy Duck as a character like LeafyIsHere for example. Ruiz states if he gets bigger he will remove the video due to the character he used being a trademark of Warner Bros. Entertainment.
2016-2020: Vlog style videos
In 2016 Ruiz started posting more face-cam videos which included more videos in real life instead of video games. Also in 2016 he started his Vlog Or Something series. He uploaded skits of him and his high school friends with a Halloween mask, he also posted more videos of him at Da Vinci Design High School inside and outside of the school. In August 2018 he hit 400 subscribers, to celebrate he did a 400 subscriber question and answer. He also started doing story-time videos like "This Kid "Hacked" My Discord Server...". In June 2019 Ruiz hit 2000 subscribers on YouTube, to celebrate he did a question and answer video on June 7, 2019. For Christmas 2018 Ruiz released "Christmas Carol" as his Elf character Elfy. On June 27, 2019 he released "Giving You Up" as Elfy. "Giving You Up" samples Rick Astley's 1987 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up".
2020-present: The Darkest TikTok Iceberg and Ear Candy
Starting in 2020 Ruiz started doing more online stunts like in the video "DONATING SUS MESSAGES TO XGC" he would send messages eluting to him and the streamer doing explicit things in class together even though they did not. He also frequently used r/RoastMe to have people insult him and then put it in video form. On August 6, 2020 to celebrate 10,000 subscribers Ruiz died his hair dirty blonde. Every 10,000 subscribers Ruiz would die his hair, somewhere between 100,000 and 1,000,000 he stopped. On August 20, 2020 he released his first non-comedic song "Pop Off!" via his own label Fat Cat Studios. Ruiz released his first popular video "WHO is BELLA POARCH and why is she FAMOUS?" on September 12, 2020. Ruiz started a clothing brand based on his channel mascot called Earl Doesn't Exist, based on his original merchandise sometimes saying "This Is Earl, Earl Doesn't Exist". Earl Doesn't Exist's former logo is still Ruiz's main channel logo. His most popular video "The Darkest TikTok Iceberg" was released on August 18, 2021. On August 31, 2021 Ruiz reached 100,000 subscribers, to celebrate he uploaded a video of him wearing a dress top and bear ears. On February 24, 2022 Ruiz released his song "Cherry Soda" via Fat Cat.
