From 2011 to 2015, Park managed the military team [[Sangju Sangmu FC]] in Korea. Under his guidance, Sangju won the second division [[K League Challenge]] in 2013 and 2015.

On 29 September 2017, Park was appointed head coach of the [[Vietnam national football team]]. While also managing the U-23 side, he far exceeded expectations and became a national hero in Vietnam after the [[Vietnam national under-23 football team]] made it to the finals of the [[2018 AFC U-23 Championship]] for the first time in history.
