To switch between them, players must visit a special class trainer e.g. in the town of '''Varanas''' located in the starting region. Moreover the character attributes of the secondary class add up to those of their primary class with 10 percent of their value. However, all experience, attribute and talent points gathered through adventures accumulate exclusively to the active primary class. To level up their secondary class, players must register it as their primary class with any class trainer.

Runes of Might (RoM) is a free massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by the Taiwanese developer Runewaker Entertainment and adapted for the English and Arabic speaking market by Tahadi Games [2]. The company announced the commercial launch of Runes of Magic, under the name of Runes of Might, in MENA (Middle East North Africa) on 15th June 2010. The game client is free to download, and no monthly subscription fee is required because the service is funded by real money transactions (RMT) in the Runes of Might Item Shop.

Features

Dual Class

The games includes the ability to pick two classes, in a "dual class system" [3], which allows players to carry skills across between classes as they switch between them. To switch between them, players must visit a special class trainer e.g. in the town of Varanas located in the starting region. Players have full access to the complete level-based skill set of their active primary class at all times. Simultaneously only the "non-specific" skills of their secondary class are available.

Moreover the character attributes of the secondary class add up to those of their primary class with 10 percent of their value. However, all experience, attribute and talent points gathered through adventures accumulate exclusively to the active primary class. Therefore, only the skills of the primary class can be upgraded by distribution of talent points. In any case, the level of the secondary class cannot surmount the level of the primary profession. To level up their secondary class, players must register it as their primary class with any class trainer.

There is only one race available to play, humans while there are two races available, humans and elves, on European Server. There are six classes available, making for 15 possible combinations of classes (counting combinations like "Caster/Shaman" and "Shaman/Caster" as one combination).

Players versus Environment

The game only features Player versus Environment combat in the form of fighting computer-controlled enemies. Players may also obtain their own houses, and guilds can buy castles that grant benefits to members of the guild [4]. Siege combat is also available between guilds.

Monster Cards

Another feature of the game are the collectible "Monster Cards", which slain foes leave behind, which provide specific attribute points alongside the usual monster information. These cards act as trophies for players but also provide attribute bonuses. Each type of monster has a card that provides bonuses to character stats, but not every monster drops the cards.

Classes

In Runes of Might, there are a total of 6 different character classes available. These are cunning Scout, nimble Rogue, wise Caster, noble Knight, and mighty Shaman. From level 10 any player can then add a second class to their character's primary class. This makes a multitude of possible combinations available to all players.

Warrior: Warriors are masters in the use of arms, and can handle every close combat weapon while also being able to wear all kinds of armors, including chain mail. Driven by their battle rage they attack the enemy with special combinations of strikes and blows, and aim to increase the momentum of their attacks. They can also channel their rage into passive abilities to strengthen themselves or to provoke opponents and to scare them with an impressive display of their fury. [5]

Scout: Scouts are masters in long range combat, and use their abilities to bring their bow and crossbow skills to perfection. In close combat they depend on evasion and delaying tactics to get into range for another shot or to wait for reinforcements who feel more at home in close range combat. Specially boosted long range attacks can defeat opponents in a matter of seconds, or prepare them to be engaged in close combat. [6]

Rogue: Rogues are specialists in inflicting physical damage. In close range they use dagger techniques, and use ranged weapons for long range attacks. In contrast to warriors and scouts, rogues rely on subtle methods, such as stealth attacks, poison, and various techniques which inflict bleeding wounds. Rogues manage to avoid most trouble thanks to their swiftness and agility. [7]

Caster: Casters attack with fire and lightning and inflict heavy magical damage. Some of their spells can enclose wide-ranging areas with fiery walls and keep whole hordes of monsters in check. Seasoned casters are said to be able to harness the power of the Phoenix. With the help of their arcane knowledge, they can protect themselves and their companions from harm, or increase the strength of the entire party. [8]

Shaman: While Shamans are able to defend, restore hit points and increase stats of their companions, they also have the power to bring back their fallen comrades to life. They can wield shields; and only they have the ability to use the element of water to deal magical damage. However, their most important role remains calling out for godly assistance and mending wounds during battle. [9]

Knight: Knights are the heaviest armored class in the game; the only one able to wear plate armor. With their special light-based attacks and shield abilities, knights fight their enemies effectively and draw their hatred over themselves. [10]

Regions and Cities

Taborea is a vast continent with wild and beautiful places.

Howling Mountains

The gloomy word howling in the name of the Howling Mountains does not correspond to the mellow landscape. In earnest though there was a meeting place of lower demons here and especially the Barrow was a venue for the wild hordes. In certain nights they performed bizarre sacrificial rituals in the Barrow’s monumental stone formation. Due to the accompanying screams the area was later called the Howling Mountains. Some years ago the Council of Varanas and the Eye of Wisdom repeatedly cleansed the region with rituals of expulsion and the force of arms.

At the time the first humans settled there, no howling could be heard, which has once reverberated through the valley. Since then travellers and adventures experience the Howling Mountains as an open ley, which can be perceived at a glance. The surrounding mountains and spiky stone formations can nonetheless instill a slightly eerie feeling of discomfort. [11]

The cities within Howling Mountains;

  • Hidden Valley
  • The Pioneer's Colony
  • The Hidden Valley Mine
  • Helen’s Farm
  • The Crushed Plain
  • The Logar Settlement
  • The Moon Hills
  • Moongorge
  • The Sevaida Wood
  • The Barrow
  • The Barren Caves

Silversprings

The Silverspring plain has always been important farmland and even ore mining has taken place here before. The name Silverspring was supposedly chosen to reflect the abundance of this place's natural resources. But in reality the name was first mentioned on a map, which was left behind by alchemists. In alchemy silver represents the magical essence, and so Silverspring is an indicator of ancient magic, of which remains can still be found there. It is this magic that the Eye of Wisdom is after. In order to be close to it, the Eye of Wisdom moved from the old continent of Kolydia to Varanas - the city that holds sway over the Silverspring plain. [12]

The cities within Silversprings;

  • Peerston Farm
  • Maidge's Farm
  • Dorian's Farm
  • Forsaken Academy
  • Twilight Mine
  • Lake of Magic Mist
  • Tagena
  • The Hall of Survivors
  • The Shrine of Oblivion
Aslan Valley

Aslan Valley is a glen filled with an atmosphere of primitive times. There are plenty of resources available like water and wood, but the humans settling on this continent disregard their value. For this reason alone the area still retains its original appearance and has not been destroyed by human greed. According to tribes, who value the forces of nature, it is a place of ancient and immense power. Every civilization, who dares not to submit itself to nature’s will, risks total annihilation.

The cities within Aslan Valley;

  • The Woodland of Qilana
  • The Qilana Camp
  • Derelict Mine
  • Silverfall Village
  • Bloodhound Mountain
  • Hunter's Encampment
  • The Goblin Village
  • The Rumpus Mine
  • Lake of Eternal Silence
  • New Moon Forest
  • New Moon Camp
  • The Distillery
  • Necropolis of Mirrors
  • The Jade Valley
  • The Deep Corridor
  • The Origin
