His humor will be missed. - Sparky 23:49, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
The tefillin story was told by Hertzberg at a Hillel Professional Staff Conference, perhaps 1988. In telling the story of his life, it is important to capture not only the facts, but the perspective he maintained that the world was best understood through a combination of critical distance, benevolence, and openness to wonder. - Bruce Esrig 1:30, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Some questions to Bruce Esrig about the tefillin story: 1) Where you present yourself at the 1988 Hillel Conference you mention or did you hear about it from someone else? 2) Does the story appear anywhere else in his own publishings? If so, could you cite the location(s) appropriately? 3) Who lent him the tefillin in the story, and how did this person supposedly come into possession of the tefillin of none other than the mystical, exoteric, and legendary 'founder' of chassidism, the Baal Shem Tov? 4) What happened to the person carrying the supposed Baal Shem Tov's tefillin on an airplane, and what happened to the tefillin themselves after this episode: where are they today? Thank you so much for any answers to these serious historical questions. Sincerely. Yuval Warshai--Warshy 20:51, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
n.b. please note there is another book release by this Author, Jaqueline Rose (author of "The Question of Zion") was mentioning it during an interview on Australian television. If anyone reading this can update the information it would be for the good of this article! [Cannot find evidence of the book she was referring to: said it was not widely read]
The other important book by this author, mentioned correctly above in the entry, is "The French Enlightenment and the Jews: The Origins of Modern Anti-Semitism" (1968). Publishing details and links need to be added. --Warshy 21:37, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
He was relayed to Martin Gang as well, as is Linda Mills. -Sparky (talk) 18:26, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
