Must we summarize everything in the introduction?

This Wikipedia page has many sections:

  • History
  • Operations
  • Design/technology
  • Awards and Recognition
  • Charitable work
  • Lawsuits, etc.

It seems to me that summarizing each of these sections in the Introduction is redundant and that we can just let the sections speak for themselves. People can easily see all of the sections on the page, after all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.16.78.80 (talk) 19:28, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are setting up a straw man argument. You have been told time after time that the lede is meant to summarize important contents (such as lawsuits and revoking of accreditation) and you still pretend that you do not understand what is going on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.54.83.224 (talk) 19:48, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is supposed to be neutral. Who are we to determine what is important vs. not important? MyPillow would not be in business without their operations, design, etc. Maybe you could offer a summary of all the sections?

Everything you have been deleting has been neutral. The only one making non neutral edits is you. You are playing games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.56.15.138 (talk) 20:09, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As of January 2021 there are news outlets reporting that Mike Lindell is the target of a Boycott over his role in the 2020 Election rants and his role in inciting the January 6th riots and sparking fears of a January, 20th riots. 2601:640:C600:3C20:2183:743D:39AE:9D30 (talk) 17:54, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

MyPillow CEO banned from Twitter

MyPillow has been banned from Twitter as a result of Mike Lindell's rants as of January 2021.2601:640:C600:3C20:5473:53AE:7FC3:3FA6 (talk) 17:21, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Under Ratings and reviews, add "from an A+ to an F" since this is a verifiable fact.

Currently, the first sentence under "Ratings and reviews" reads:

In January 2017, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) announced it had revoked the accreditation for MyPillow and had lowered their rating to an F based upon numerous consumer complaints. The main issue addressed by the BBB was the constant use of their buy one, get one free (BOGO) offer.

We need to add: "from an A+ to", so the sentence reads:

In January 2017, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) announced it had revoked the accreditation for MyPillow and had lowered their rating from an A+ to an F based upon numerous consumer complaints. The main issue addressed by the BBB was the constant use of their buy one, get one free (BOGO) offer.

I agree with this change. It gives readers more clarity about the change in their rating status. I'll go ahead and add it, but if anyone disagrees please feel free to voice your opinion. PureRED (talk) 14:56, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Great - thanks!!!!98.16.78.80 (talk) 15:05, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Add context to the number of complaints

Based on [24], we should change the second sentence under “Lawsuits and settlement”

From: The Better Business Bureau has received 220 complaints regarding the company from 2013-2016.[23] To: The Better Business Bureau has received 220 complaints regarding the company from 2013-2016 and has sold over 25 million pillows [23][24]

This change puts the complaints in perspective. A company with 220 complaints and, for example, trillions in sales would not be a big deal. A company with 220 complaints who has sold 250 items is a big deal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.80.146.209 (talk) 16:49, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'd disagree with this particular suggestion. I think that the context for sales is already mentioned in the article up top. This product is hugely successful and I think the article represents that pretty well. This section we're talking about is referencing complaints, not sales. PureRED (talk) 16:52, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I also disagree with this suggestion. It is fallacious to imply that complaints do not matter just because the number of sales is high. Furthermore, common sense indicates that the vast majority of people who are displeased with a product will not put in the extra effort to file a complaint, so sales alone is an inaccurate way of measuring satisfaction. 172.56.14.135 (talk) 17:26, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The suggested change is funny, since "The Better Business Bureau" is the subject of the sentence, so we would be stating that "The Better Business Bureau has sold over 25 million pillows" Edison (talk) 23:37, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merging the Michael J Lindell Wikipedia article into this article doesn't make sense now, given recent content

I just updated the Mike Lindell Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_J_Lindell) with content from current references.

As you can see, there is little about MyPillow - most of the article is about Mike Lindell, not MyPillow.

So, given the significant non-MyPillow content in Mike Lindell's Wikipedia article, it doesn't really make sense to merge Mike Lindell's article into this MyPillow article now.

Update: Since there have not been any other updates added to this discussion (it has been over a week since I added the above), I will be taking off the "merge" from the Michael J Lindell Wikipedia article. --WikiGJay (talk) 18:20, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Created thousands of jobs?

The latest commercial I saw just this morning claims MyPillow has created “thousands of jobs” right here in America. Latest employment info I can find online says they had upwards of 1,600 employees before a layoff last year. Can anyone provide insight on this? gratuitous trivia or encyclopedic content?

Anyone else think that a pillow donation from 2015 is not encyclopedia-worthy content? re: "In March 2015, My Pillow donated pillows to the Sandra J. Schulze American Cancer Society Hope Lodge facilities, which houses patients and their caregivers when traveling for treatment."[39][40] Are we to include every little donation a corporation makes on their pages? Cheers! J.D.718 (talk) 22:01, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's one sentence. If "every little donation" was included here, it might be a valid issue. This 180-pillow donation is an example of philanthropy in the section of the article devoted to it, and the content is fully sourced. —ADavidB 03:17, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's one insignificant sentence. I don't see enough philanthropy to even warrant a section, frankly, perhaps the section should be eliminated. Does a 180 pillow donation reflect the philanthropy of the foundation? the is not significant to an encyclopedia. Company pages do not typically list small scale donations. What makes this one worthy of inclusion? While the content is not useful to an encyclopedia, it is of use to the subject company, a company that walked back its claim to be producing masks strictly as philanthropy (formerly under the gratuitous title of "Charitable work"), which is clearly not the case, though I see that you had defended that untruth by restoring another editor's deletion of it (based on it not being factual). You made no effort to update and correct that information (as I did), notably on June 13 and 14, when such information was readily available. On the 14th, you specifically added the phrase "to donate to", rather than updating the content factually. To borrow another of your phrases, that "might be a valid issue" in itself. All edits considered, forgive me if I don't give much weight to your particular opinion on this. Wikipedia editor opinion has nothing to do with it. The information is sourced. If you have other sourced content, please add it. Notability guidelines do not apply to content within articles. —ADavidB 17:40, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading Info-My Pillow products are not all "Made in the USA"

Their towels are made in Pakistan and info on their 2021 website only states 5hat the "cotton is from the USA". Dorysmom (talk) 03:06, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
