I'm new to Wikipedia editing as of March 16th, 2005.

Pure Mexican breed, I'm a native of Moline, Illinois, and have lived in the U.S., Spain, Mexico and Taiwan. I have been studying Mandarin intensively since 1992 and working as an editor in Taipei, Taiwan since 1994. And they call me a hobgoblin. But I have to admit it's pretty funny.

My primary interest is the Chinese language and its history. For a decade now I've been researching the origins of the Chinese script, with an emphasis on the oracle bone period, as well as etymology in general. Oracle bones were once called 龍骨 long2gu3, or 'dragon bones', ergo sum. I have also studied the bronze, clerical and early 楷書 kai3shu1 or standard scripts, both simplified and traditional characters, and both bopomofo and various romanization systems.

Based on my reading of major Western and Chinese scholars, I'm rather dissatisfied with the Wiki content on the Chinese language, especially the early scripts, which I had no ideas of what is it about, and am just beginning the work on revamping these pages. Popular misconceptions about the nature and origin of the scripts appear to be ubiquitous.

If you see anything you disagree with, just contact me via talk pages, my user page or email, and I will happily provide extensive evidence, in English where possible. However, the most authoritative sources are generally in Chinese; I have had the great fortune of finding a mentor in a paleographer at the Academia Sinica's Institute of History and Philology, Chen Zhaorong, who guides me as to these sources and answers any burning questions I might have on these topics.

If you see me committing any errors on Wiki, especially newbee mistakes of editing in the wrong place, I might get confused, failing to use proper conventions or formatting and so on with my little brain, please do bring them to my attention on my discussion page or via email. As an amateur, I'm still learning, and your help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!!! Dragonbones 05:13, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
