Welcome!

Hey, Farosdaughter, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions. I hope you like the site and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful (some of them may sound stupid, but I recommend you check them out):

While editing, please remember:

You should introduce yourself here at the new user log. I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name, the date, and the time.

For your first edits, I suggest searching for articles that you think might interest you. You could also be audacious and try a random page.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome and happy editing! Cbrown1023 22:00, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RCP

[edit]

Of couse it's okay to get involved in RCP and NPP. After all, it's the normally new users who created the pages that are deleted! I would also recommend it because if you ever want to become an administrator, your possible supporters will want to see that you have contributed to it... Cbrown1023 22:18, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Georgette Heyer

[edit]

Thanks for your query. The only one of her novels that I have (re)written an article on is The Toll-Gate, and another editor came in and re-arranged it according to the recommended standards. So I'd suggest you have a look at that as a suggested framework. I'll follow your contributions with interest. Murray Langton 06:29, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Sex and the law

[edit]

Your recent edit to Sex and the law (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Click here for frequently asked questions about the bot and this warning. // AntiVandalBot 22:34, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I got your note. Your edit was, rather obviously, proper. I've restored your version and blocked the vandal involved. Bots such as this one are very useful, but are known to make the occasional mistake. If this happens, you should leave a message on the bot talk page about the mistake it made, so that its owner can improve it (which I have just done). Note that all bots are incapable of blocking you, and note that reverting blatant vandalism such as this is not subject to the 3RR. Happy editing! (Radiant) 22:49, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Novels WikiProject

[edit]

Hi, and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books often referred to as "Novels".

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the members, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:36, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome and please remember to use our project userbox on your userpage thanks. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:36, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was RC patrolling and was reverting vandalism to D12, which had been vandalised several times by different IPs and users. I went to the history and saw your name and the diff showed vandalism but I wondered if the was maybe an edit conflict gone wrong? I didn't want to slap a warning on your page without checking because you seem to be a good user. Thanks Farosdaughter 18:36, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking! I just removed a Death Prediction for 1/3/2007 and a nonsense line manually because no VandalProof rollback was available. I probably should have looked back further in the history, as you did. I do TRY to be a good user! :-) Happy New Year! Lmcelhiney 18:43, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:VoA's RC script warnings.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's a shame he didn't reply to us before archiving his page. Oh well, I'll try out the new script when I get home and can see how it works in Firefox. Happy editing! Katr67 18:11, 21 February 2007 (UTC) >[reply]

Twinkle

[edit]

Hi, you're very much welcome. I've been pretty busy today so I haven't really have time to look into the matter. If I find anything, I promise you'll be the third to know though (first being me and second being Twinkle's creator ;). Happy editing and a good weekend to you to. Cheers -- Seed 2.0 22:07, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: Thanks for saying thanks. Appreciate it. :)

Welcome!

You're very welcome! If we don't look out for one another, those pesky vandals might actually win! And yes, warm and glowy inside. It's so much fun to see what they come out with :D Marc Talk 22:42, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging quesiton

[edit]

So I kinda made a very, very small start on Fair Use-ing some of the tagged images and I was wondering if the little notice warning of deletion underneath the picture in the articles goes away automatically or do I need to remove it manually? Thanks, --Farosdaughter 20:35, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have to remove that manually, don't forget about removing the warnings from talk pages as well, use edit summary " Image concerned has rationale, thus considered good faith to remove warning". Sfan00 IMG 20:41, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You!

[edit]

Oh, I'm so terribly grateful for that! I'd hate to see the image go, because Miss Testaburger looks so beautiful in it. And yes, I will have a look at what can be done, so other images on the site don't have to worry about suffering from even the threat of deletion.

Thanks again!

Anal Investigation

[edit]

Hello,

My name is Dr. John Marks and I am a member of the Biological Department at the University of Oxford, England. I have been doing a lot of research for my PHD on the gastro tract and I believe that gutted is more relevant wording on this topic.

Merry Christmas and a Grand New Year.

Seasons Greetings,

John Marks.

Do you have something against anal investigators? I refer you to this edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sex_and_the_law&diff=88509919&oldid=88508690
And by the way, my IP address seems to keep changing - but stays in the 92* range. Apologies.
Actually, if you had been alive as long as I have, or you have any sort of intelligence, you would know that the edit at Cross-Channel guns in the Second World War was a serious one. A cross channel gun was named poo, after the fictional charactor in AA Milnes book, along with a second called Winney.

I am starting to have serious doubts about this community.

John Marks.

Thank you for the clarification and apology - I am 79 years old and it is sometimes very hard for me to control my temper! But, from now on I will source my edits.

Thank you very much. 92.0.238.205 (talk) 14:22, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi there. I have seen that you use huggle by the fact that you have automatically updated the huggle white list(it does this when closing huggle). I was wondering if you would add the category [[Category:Wikipedians who use Huggle]] to your user page so that it fills out and we know who actually uses huggle. If you do not want to you do not have to. I am also sorry if i have already talked to you about this or you no longer use huggle but i sent it to everyone that has edited the page since mid January. I hope we can start to fill out this category. If you would like to reply to this message then please reply on my talk page as i will probably not check here again. Orphaned non-free media (Image:WendySP.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WendySP.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:23, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
