Croatian Party of Rights - why replace with red wlinks?

Can you please explain why are you mass replacing links to Croatian Party of Rights with the red link Croatian Party of Right? Did you perhaps forget to create the red link page or redirect? - Nuβiατεch ^Talk/_contrib 20:50, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

The Croatian Party of Rights

I've verified that, although it is a right-wing party, the English translation is Croatian Party of Rights, as in civil rights, and not right, as in right-wing, see Britannica and a gazillion other web pages. --NorwegianBlue ^talk 21:29, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, that must be VERY wrong. It does not mean left or right, it means statehood right, right on independent state - it refers to Croatian historical right, what was the iuridical term used in 19th century, when party was founded. Check the German translation: des Rechts - it is singular, not plural for sure and it has not any conection with civil or human rights whatsoever! THIS DISCUSSION IS RIDICUOLUS - a Croatian historian discusses with complete foregner in this matter!!! --Josinj (talk) 21:35, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

(ec):It appears that this is a language issue, see Josinj's last page move, and the edit summary. It appears to be singular in the original. Nevertheless, "right" in singular to my non-native ears doesn't work very well in English in this context, if anything it has the connotation of "right" vs "wrong", not that which appears to be intended, and there is a universally accepted English translation. A redirect from "Croatian Party of Right" to "Croatian Party of Rights" may be warranted, but I fail to see why the more common English form shouldn't be used in Wikipedia. I have reverted the articles you've edited, changing "Party of Right" back to "Party of Rights". I realize that your edits were made in good faith. Nevertheless, when making massive changes which affect many Wikipedia pages, one should always seek consensus before doing so. In this case a change of the translation of the name of the party could have been proposed on the talk page of the party's article. Doing massive changes on many Wikipedia pages, introducing a name change that may be grammatically correct but linguistically clumsy, and rarely used elsewhere, is easily perceived as disruptive, regardless of whether it is made by a Croatian historian. --NorwegianBlue ^talk 22:49, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

There appears to be two entries in EB, one named "Croatian Party of Rights", and one named "Party of Right". Searching for "Croatian Party of Right" on the website of EB yields no hits. So as stated above, it boils down to reaching consensus on whether a name change on the relevant Wikipedia pages should be made. Update regarding copyright concern

Since we do not yet have verification of permission by the processes set out above and sufficient time has passed since the placement of the notice, the article has been deleted for copyright concerns. This deletion is not necessarily permanent. If you have already sent a letter to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) and GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (if you are not the copyright holder or have co-authored the material, release under CC-BY-SA-compatible license alone is sufficient), the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed by the Wikimedia Communications committee.
