Problematic editor
An editor that you interacted with earlier this month has been repeatedly changing information on multiple articles (without citing any sources for these changes). I think they could possibly be a sock? - because I ran an editor utility search and came up with this. Would appreciate it if you could look in on the situation at Robb Elementary School shooting and let me know what you think. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 15:37, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- I think it ought to be reported at WP:SPI. While there seem to be plenty of good faith edits (albeit unsourced), the similarity in edits between the two accounts and the temporary block of the older account makes me feel a checkuser should take a look at this. I don't have those credentials, so I can't help with that I'm afraid. MIDI (talk) 09:53, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ok thanks. Will do. I *thought* the 2 accounts looked suspicious... Shearonink (talk) 14:58, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

query
should there be mention that Guy Mowbray was also heard in the trailer? Visokor (talk) 08:56, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- I'd have thought that's implied from the fact he's the series commentator – personally, I don't think we need to get too hung up on the contents of the trailer; mentioning when it was released (as it was a primary piece of early promo) is important, but much more than that is unnecessary. MIDI (talk) 09:11, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Regarding ep3, this is a bit of a trifle... how do we do up that summary to show the female contenders going first in that one like in the original series? Visokor (talk) 11:27, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- That should be doable with an extra field in the template to specify which to show first. Gimme a mo... MIDI (talk) 14:40, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Dundalk to Baltimore
Your Baltimore/Boston booboo puts me in mind of what would be a mythical bridge spanning the length of Ireland from Dundalk to Baltimore, County Cork. Locally, the Maryland Dundalk is noted as one of Baltimore's less salubrious suburbs, especially now that the steel mill has vanished. Acroterion (talk) 22:47, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi MIDI: In 2010, you created this article, then removed the reference that have population and other details for it. I'm wondering whether Ngare Ndare Forest was what you'd read about; that's mentioned at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy as having been incorporated into it, but the coordinates don't seem to be within either the Conservancy or the Forest. There are a few tourist sources on the forest; for the farm, I can't find anything except some paintings: two by Robert F. Kuhn and one by William Powys, who is described as holding the land. And sources based on the Wikipedia article. Can you remember what led you to make an article on this as a settlement? Did you read something about artists working there, or about the history of the forest? Yngvadottir (talk) 07:51, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
I see you haven't edited since I left this note, so you may not have seen it, but there's a follow-up. I was made aware of the article by a forum post at Wikipediocracy, and someone else has since pointed out there that you created hundreds of similar articles on settlements in Kenya over two days. I checked Ndarugu Farm and it's comparable: you created it with a population estimate from Fallingrain.com, then ran a bot to remove the unreliable source and the population derived from it, since when it has remained a one-line unreferenced stub. I appreciate that Wikipedia needs articles on places in under-represented countries, like Kenya. It hurts me to say this; but since the source you used was unreliable, as you realised yourself, and since the places with "Farm" in the name are unlikely to be actual settlements as opposed to landholdings, the entire group of articles you created from this source should probably be PRODded, except for any that have since had a reliable source added. If you don't object, I think I'll move Ngare Ndare Farm to Ngare Ndare Forest and rewrite it to save it. And presumably some of these places are actual villages and towns. But it seems they all need to be examined. Yngvadottir (talk) 22:40, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- No objections to you doing that – it was a long time ago so difficult to remember circumstances of the creation of these articles but it was evidently done in error (albeit with good intentions). No objection to WP:PROD where prods are due, nor rewriting pages to save them. Thanks for your diligence. MIDI (talk) 13:54, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
- Farm to forest is done. Hopefully adequately referenced and clear enough. I see you've started checking some yourself and redirecting or PRODding in some cases. Thanks very much, it's a large block of articles. I don't fault your intentions at all, it's just a shame the source you found turned out to be unreliable. Yngvadottir (talk) 12:01, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- Going through them manually is going to be too laborious; when I'm on a PC I can run WP:AWB and do the task quite easily. There's a few that have been constructively built upon that are good to keep (i.e. passing WP:GNG if not WP:NPLACE), but AWB will easily allow case-by-case review. MIDI (talk) 16:04, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you again. Looking up Ndarugu Farm, which you've now redirected, I found indications that Ndarugu is a village in Kiambu County, but not enough to make a stand-alone article. (The term is also used, for example on Google Maps, for the valley of the Njoro River, which our article states is also known as the Ndarugu River; I see a few sources saying they are indeed the same river.) I suspect the Farm and Ranch settlements listed by Falling Rain were all colonial land grants, as Ngusishi Farm turned out to be. That leaves us with the question of the incoming links from lists of settlements; the ones I've so far mentioned are or were listed at Eastern Province (Kenya) and Central Province (Kenya). I've made an edit or two at Eastern Province to reflect my article moves and removing unlinked places that were delinked when they were deleted after PRODding. However, since the stubs were created and the lists of places generated from them, Kenya has reorganised and the regions have been replaced with smaller counties. The lists should probably be replaced with lists at for example Meru County and Kiambu County. But that may be an ideal. I should probably make a summary at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Kenya and suggest that folks there decide what should happen to those lists on the old regions pages? The counties pages look good, with constituencies and sub-counties listed, so maybe there are still people watching that page. Thoughts? Yngvadottir (talk) 23:27, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

I was wondering if you could take a look at Gējì? There is a small issue occurring where another editor keeps adding unsourced information to the lead, and I've tried explaining to them that they shouldn't be doing this and they've continued to re-add it even after I tried to discuss the issue with them and explain what the lead is for. If I make any changes now to the lead to correct the issues that have been created, I'll violate the 3RR. Specifically, the issue at hand is they keep inserting something to the effect of but many are not prostitutes
with no reliable source and despite the fact that almost every source says they provided sexual services as part of their career. Brocade River Poems 11:50, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- Wow – there's a LOT to work through at User_talk:清风与明月#Collaboration_on_Geji and Talk:Gējì#Regarding_the_question_of_whether_all_geji_are_prostitutes... I'd want to be familiar with the context before concluding too much. You'd might want to consider WP:3O, or even WP:AN (especially if WP:EW is applicable). The article history suggests neither of you are in violation of 3RR – you've made one removal in the last 24 hours – but thank you for your self-awareness. I will remind the other user that they should see through discussions on the talk page, rather than continue to add content despite your objections.
- Overall, though, that article needs to be rewritten from the ground up; it's virtually unreadable at the moment. I'd consider writing a draft in userspace and moving forward that way. MIDI (talk) 12:29, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
that article needs to be rewritten from the ground up
- Frankly, I completely agree with this sentiment and have been attempting to revise it little by little at a time. The editor in question made extensive edits to the article over a long period of time that created the article you presently see. Prior to their extensive re-writing of the article, it looked like this, a good 100,000 bytes smaller. I had brought my concerns to the ANI before, but we ended up agreeing to collaborate on improving the article, but it doesn't seem to be working out. I really don't think they're being malicious or anything, but I do think it's an issue of WP:COMPETENCE. As for the 3RR mention, apologies, I miscalculated the time as I believed that my edit here had been within 24 hours of the other edit.
- Sorry again for bothering you! Thanks for the help. Brocade River Poems 20:41, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

So sorry to trouble you, but might you help me mediate an issue I'm having with another editor at User talk:Mandruss#DT talk page? They seems to keep escalating a CIVIL matter. Cheers. DN (talk) 08:44, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
Mandruss corrected the WP:TALKHEADPOV issue, and I sent a thank you...but to paraphrase them, they are continuing to point the finger and say my apology is insufficient, and now they refuse to speak to me. It seems that no matter what I say they will just find some reason to try to scold me and take offense. Would you mind talking to them, or is there someone else willing to try to de-escalate this before it ends up taking up more of the project's time? Cheers. DN (talk) 22:16, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
If you think I should just continue to ignore it and walk away, I'm OK with that. DN (talk) 23:46, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- If it were me, I'd step back for a few days, clear my head, and look again at it objectively. If I still felt the same, I'd then consider seeking assistance. Given that the other editor has said "This will be my last comment on this issue", I'd take that at face value and consider WP:DTS and both moving on with being productive.
