== Permission/Publisher ==

Hey, you sent me the e-mail regarding the permission for the use of the photos of the ticket 2012022410006566 . I sent you a permission from the author but you said that I have to get the permission from the publisher. However the book is self-published so the author is also the publisher. Shouldn't the images be safe from deletion ??

Please reply. Thanks. [[User:J10452M|J10452M]] ([[User talk:J10452M|talk]]) 04:57, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Introduction to Algorithms book Cover

Mind you if I ask you to upload this image as the Introduction to Algorithms cover? I am not well informed about the Fair-Use policies, but as far as I can tell this one should be OK too: [1]. Thanks. 189.214.203.173 (talk) 15:10, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded this one on top of the existing one. Thanks for the link. --Sreejith K (talk) 17:44, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I received a message from you saying there was no evidence of permission on the photo. It was clearly there. I stated it was photo by poster and had given it a creative commons share alike license. I think this may have been a mistake as it was being prepared to be moved. If you look at the history of the photo it is definitely there. I am going to remove the prods. Americasroof (talk) 20:03, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged it as missing permission because it was not evident what "photo by poster" meant. Is poster your name? --Sreejith K (talk) 18:21, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I get it now. Fixed the link and moved the file to commons. Thank you for your patience. --Sreejith K (talk) 05:52, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I should have put it on commons to begin with. You're doing a thankless job in the conversion. Thanks! Americasroof (talk) 10:42, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am creating the Organization Profile for a Gurgaon Head Quartered Organization A2Z Group and the file uploaded is their Logo. Source and other details are mentioned in the description. Please let me know in case I need to provide any other information. William Emmanual (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 10:27, 8 February 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Non-free images are not permitted in User namespaces. Currently this image is only used in your sandbox, which is not allowed in Wikipedia. This image will have to be deleted. Once you create the article, you can re-upload the image to Wikipedia and use it. --Sreejith K (talk) 10:32, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thanks for explaining. Really appreciate the feedback. Would it be possible for you to review this document and let me know if I am doing something wrong there too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Willonthemove/sandbox

I am not quite clear whether the article meets Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Almost all links in the article points to the company's website or blogs. Wikipedia might expect to see a good media coverage or a significant achievement for the Organization. But that's just my view. You can focus on adding links to news that appeared in popular media. --Sreejith K (talk) 11:40, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I am sorry. I have tons of Newspaper coverage for the Organization. I will start adding those links soon. Thanks for pointing it out.

--Willonthemove (talk) 11:49, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Now that the logo is linked to an article can we keep this image without deleting it?

--122.161.191.128 (talk) 15:50, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the deletion template now. The image is good to be kept. Thanks for the prompt response. --Sreejith K (talk) 16:33, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is just perfect! Thanks a lot for your continued guidance through this effort - it was a great experience turning my research about the A2Z Group of Business into a Wiki Article.

Good to know. Happy editing --Sreejith K (talk) 18:18, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need help on the A2Z Group Article

Hi there, I need some help on the A2Z Group article I was writing. If you remember, you had help me with getting the issue with the logo resolved. Is there any way you can review the article once and point me to the areas where correction/change is needed. Since an editor suspects my relation with the organization - I have offered to make all future contributions in the talk pages ONLY and have any one of Wikipedia's trusted editors verify the content and then update the article themselves.

Please do let me know if there is any other alternative to resolving this. Thanks again. Willonthemove (talk) 06:57, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Attention please

Since the IP is from Bangalore and since the IP was interested in Wikimeetup Bangalore 38, it must be someone I know. But its not me. Now that this request has been declined, I am not commenting there either. Thanks for the note. --Sreejith K (talk) 07:52, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

Hey. Are you the same administrator from Wikimedia Commons? I saw you reviewed and passed some of the images I uploaded to commons. I got some questions on images and their licensing. Are you the right person? Thanks. - VivvtTalk 11:20, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am an administrator at Commons. How can I help you? --Sreejith K (talk) 11:39, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to know that you are the same person. I have uploaded a file from this blog. I contacted the blog owner for the usage permission by dropping an email. He replied saying the pictures for that were supplied by the pr so they are free to be used. Now, can this mail suffice for the copyright? Can this image be uploaded to commons with this blog? Thanks. - VivvtTalk 12:09, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have tagged the file appropriately and a message was also posted on your talk page. You will have to ask the copyright holder to email permissions-en@wikimedia.org stating the license under which he/she would like the image to be published in Wikipedia. Sample emails can be found at Commons:Email templates --Sreejith K (talk) 12:34, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So if I understand correctly, blog owner's mail is not sufficient enough for an image to go with CC-3.0 and I need to contact PR for that event. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 12:50, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OTRS email should come from the copyright holder. Given the fact that the blog owner was provided the photos by the PR, I would guess the PR is the copyright holder or at least know who is the copyright holder. --Sreejith K (talk) 13:10, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, I would change the image licensing to non-free image for the time being and will try to contact PR thru blog owner and will see if I get a reply from them. Its better to have that image as non-free than deleted because of the licensing. In case, I do get a reply from PR, we can change to image licensing accordingly to suit its copyright. Let me know if you have other opinion. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 13:35, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Girish Kulkarni is still alive and a free image is possible. So you wont be able to keep the image under a non-free license here. The only option is to get an OTRS as soon as possible. --Sreejith K (talk) 14:08, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have contacted blog owner to provide PR contact information. But then I am not sure how much time it would take. By that time, this image would be deleted. Do we have any alternative to save this image, in case I do not get any response from blog owner/PR ? Thanks. - VivvtTalk 14:13, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately no. This image cannot stay in Wikipedia without OTRS permission. But good news is that you have 7 days to get that. If it gets deleted, once we get OTRS, this image will get undeleted. --Sreejith K (talk) 15:16, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That should be fine. I will try to find a free image and will upload it as a newer version of the same file, in case I dont get any reply from owner. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 18:04, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
