Why did you decline the speedy deletion on Onlinelivenews24? Exactly the same article has already been created many times before, and deleted as A7. I've put it up for AfD, but I believe it should have been speedy deleted. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:45, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

:I declined it because speedy deletion is intended for articles that don't even make a plausible claim of notability (e.g. "Bob is my friend who's a real hoopy frood"). The article does assert that the site is one of the most popular in Bangladesh, so I don't think speedy is appropriate in this case. The article obviously will need more citations to pass -- and frankly I doubt that it will -- but I don't think speedy is the right process in this case. :Hi Suskinmanagement -- if you want to replace the image with a different one that would be fine. If there is an alternate image you're willing to release under a Creative Commons copyright license, you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard and use that on the article instead. In general, if the article has no image and there are photos of Sonja Sohn available on Wikimedia Commons, someone will probably add one back. I have been reverting clearly improper personal comments and have explained this to the new user on their talk page without escalating the warnings. Vandalism patrolling, which I have done for quite awhile, is an exception to 3RR. I don't claim to be always right and certainly make a mistake from time to time but I don't think someone can leave personal comments about "what an organization is really like" and not have them reverted. If you evaluate the content differently from me, please let me know. Thanks. Donner60 (talk) 20:00, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

:You're quite right that this work falls under 3RR exemptions (not just vandalism, but also unsourced libelous information about living persons). Sorry to have interrupted you! —Tim Pierce (talk) 20:14, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

::No problem. As I said, I am not perfect and have made mistakes in vandalism patrolling from time to time (not too often, I think). I don't mind an occasional check and look back. I have restored some edits promptly when I realized, or in a few cases had it pointed out to me, that they were in good faith and at least arguably correct. It is good to be kept alert when doing this. If a mistake is made, then it can be quickly corrected. I think that is key. Avoid errors but in the event one is made, correct it quickly with an explanation and even apology if appropriate. I try to do that but a little reminder can be helpful. Hi Tim, I appreciate you answering a few questions for me yesterday in the live chat and thank you for your willingness to help. I am editing an article on Morgan Ganem. You recommended that I find stronger citations and focus on the more important things.

Article link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Morgan_Ganem

I found a new citation for the KC Chiefs chant that he wrote via an article written about it in the Tulsa World, though I couldn't figure out how to properly cite the link. (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/nfl/stadium-rocker/article_5d644534-ee67-5ce7-9204-29a46dfa11ec.html?mode=image)

Also, I've omitted the Dr. Plasticine section because there isn't as much in depth important info on that subject.

As all Wikipedia writers, I would like to get this article edited so that it will be approved. Please feel free to make edits if you would like. I appreciate any suggestions or help you an give me.

* Gwillis I think that sounds like a great idea and very on-topic for that page. The biggest concern is that uploading an image of someone else's artwork to Wikipedia can run afoul of intellectual property law. The image could be uploaded under the fair use doctrine in order to display it specifically on that one page. Alternatively, as it happens, I personally know Jay Furr, who designed the "Spamming The Globe" t-shirt. I'll ask him if he'd be willing to release the image under a CC license. == Request from beyond the grave ==

In 2007, you requested an image of the "Amstel Tower windmill" at Talk:Windmill. You either have got the wrong name or need to be more specific. The Amstel Tower is a to-be-built residential tower, while there are various tower-like windmills along the Amstel river. Could you please indicate which one you were refering to (maybe even with google maps links/coordinates)? --HyperGaruda (talk) 11:10, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

:If you're referring to this edit, it was an image request that someone else had made on another page. The original request was:
::I would much appreciate some good images showing mechanical details of - specifically - the Amstel Tower windmill. I can find an image showing the front of the mill, but details are not brilliant and nowhere can I find images of the mechanics of turning the cap - which are at the rear of the mill and also up on the skirt. I would also like to see better details of the doors and windows in these mills - Tower mills especially, where only the cap and sails are turned in to the wind, not the entire post. --FranOnTheEdge 07:30, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
:If you need more information then you should ask them. —Tim Pierce (talk) 01:47, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

;Notability within bios (more specifically: application of wp:GNG/wp:BIO against wp:AUTH/wp:PROF...and both vis-a-vis vagaries of actual practice!)
I.e. - Is Matthew Grow, editor of The Council of Fifty, Minutes, March 1844–January 1846 (The Church Historian's Press, which is an imprint of Deseret Book; 2016), notable? Is [[Benjamin E.

A tag has been placed on :User:Robber byker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

</div>
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the , or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. <!-- Template:Db-notwebhost-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> Cabayi (talk) 07:40, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

NE Meetup #5: April 19th at Clover Food Lab in Kendall Square

Dear Fellow Wikimedian,

New England Wikimedians would like to invite you to the April 2014 meeting, which will be a small-scale meetup of all interested Wikimedians from the New England area. We will socialize, review regional events from the beginning of the year, look ahead to regional events of 2014, and discuss other things of interest to the group. Be sure to RSVP here if you're interested.

Also, if you haven't done so already, please consider signing up for our mailing list and connect with us on Facebook and Twitter.

We hope to see you there!

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons

[edit]
Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list.

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add NoACEMM to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:08, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
