Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Amyloidosis
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The image provides a comprehensive illustration of the range of symptoms of amyloidosis patients. It will serve as the main image for the article, providing a useful visual synopsis of the disease for Wikipedia readers. It will replace the existing main image which does not accurately reflect the disease state for the vast majority of amyloidosis patients.
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
The drawing highlights the potential range of symptoms leading to diagnosis of amyloidosis in a medically accurate way. There exist freely available depictions or renderings of individual amyloidosis patients or symptoms, but amyloidosis is a complex disease. These individual depictions do not capture the diversity of symptoms nor accurately reflect the disease state for many other amyloidosis patients, leading to a misrepresentation of the disease.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | This is a moderate resolution image that is to be used in one article.
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
Use of the image on Wikipedia has been approved by email correspondence from Muriel Finkle, the leader of the National Amyloidosis Support Groups (ASG, amyloidosissupport.org) and publisher of the Amyloidosis Awareness booklet containing the image. Furthermore, the image does not appear on the illustrator's website (fairmanstudios.com) and therefore is not covered by the terms of use indicated there. The image's market role is confined within the ASG's booklet, and the author of that booklet (ASG) has given permission for use of the image on Wikipedia.
