== Aircraft and crew ==
The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-2A1C. It was powered by two [[Pratt & Whitney JT8D|Pratt & Whitney JT8D-17]] turbofan engines.<ref name="asn" />

The captain had logged 4,581 flight hours, including 3,081 hours on the Boeing 737. == Accident ==
After the flight was cleared to land on runway 10, the fire alarm for the cargo compartment sounded intermittently. Distracted by the alarms, the pilots steered the plane off course. At around 6:05 a.m. local time the aircraft crashed into the jungle.<ref name="asn" />
