Melissa Lawson

Melissa Lawson (born 1976) is an American country music singer. On August 4, 2008, she was declared the winner of the television program Nashville Star, a country music singing competition which aired on NBC.[1]

Biography

Born in Arlington, Texas, she currently resides in nearby Dalworthington Gardens. Lawson is a working mother with 5 sons.

Nashville Star

Melissa Lawson was the oldest contestant among the ten finalists. She lost 45 pounds since first auditioning for the show.[2]

She is the sixth "Nashville Star", following previous winners Buddy Jewell, Brad Cotter, Erika Jo, Chris Young and Angela Hacker. This season marked the first time Nashville Star was featured on NBC, after five seasons on USA Network.

Career

Following Lawson's win on Nashville Star, her debut single, "What If It All Goes Right," was released to country radio on August 5, 2008. With the win comes a recording contract with Warner Brothers Records. Her debut album will be produced by Nashville Star judge John Rich.[3]
