"Safety" is a multi-language pop duet recorded by American singer Anastacia and Russian singer Dima Bilan, released as the second single from Anastacia's forthcoming fifth studio album. The song premiered on Europa Radio on June 10, 2010, and was released as a digital download and physical single in the Russian Federation in August 2010.[1] The single peaked at #19 on the Russian Singles Chart on the week of release.

Background

The song was first recorded in Los Angeles in May 2010, as a solo piece by Anastacia. However, when she was approached by Sony Music Entertainment about release, she said that recently discovered the work of Dima Bilan, and asked if he could record a vocal for the song.[2] After approaching Bilan, who agreed to record a vocal, Anastacia made the decision to release the song in the Russian Federation, due to Bilan's part being performed entirely in Russian. The duo performed the song ed live for the first time at the Muz-TV Music Awardsin Moscow in June 2010, and the song premiered on the radio just days later. Subsequently, the single was released in Russia in August 2010. A planned European release, featuring Bilan's vocals being replaced English-language vocals from an unannounced British artist, was cancelled due to reasons unknown.[3] It is unknown whether it will be this unannounced version, or the original version featuring Bilan, which will feature on Anastacia's forthcoming fifth studio album.
