Lunatic |
---|
Lunatic was a French hip hop duo from Boulogne-Billancourt. The lineup consisted of Booba (Boulogne-Billancourt) and Ali (Issy-les-Moulineaux), coming from the department of Hauts-de-Seine in the west suburb of Paris.
After Lunatic split up in 2003, both members went on to solo careers. Their release "Le Crime Paie" was produced by DJ Mars.[1]
Career
In 1994, Booba met Daddy Ali at a concert of Coup d'Etat Phonique. They decided to form a group and Daddy Ali dropped the "Daddy" from his stage-name, now named Ali.
Their first song "Le crime paie" ["Crime Pays"], released in 1996. At this time, they also recorded an album titled Sortis de l'ombre, but this album was never released. In 1997, they released their second song, "Les vrais savent".
Lunatic left Time Bomb records in 1997, and when Booba was arrested in 1998, Ali had to continue as a solo act.[citation needed]
After Lunatic
The group separated in 2003. Booba and Ali then embarked on solo careers.
Ali (rapper)
Ali, originally Daddy Ali (born in 1975 at Issy-les-Moulineaux, France) is a French rapper of Moroccan origin who started his music career with Booba as rap duo Lunatic and now is a solo rapper artist.
After split-up, Ali released his album Chaos et Harmonie in 2005[2] collaborating with 45 Scientific. He made the track "Golden Boy" talking about his old friend Booba without mentioning his name and accusing him that he was no longer a singer but only a man who wanted to make money. He followed it up with a second album Le Rassemblement. Although Ali wanted to continue using the moniker, but Booba vehemently refused this.
Booba
Elie Yaffa, better known under his stage name Booba (French pronunciation: [buˈba]) is a French rapper. Booba became hugely successful with most legally downloaded artist in France.[3]
