Make me unsee that

[edit]

Soviet Union never occupied anything — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.130.40.170 (talk) 19:31, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know this was 7 years ago, but I can't help myself... Have you got any proof to the contrary? 2A00:23C4:2401:6D00:D43A:54FC:605A:13B7 (talk) 16:30, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Northern Norway

[edit]

The article states that "1944–1946, Soviet troops occupied northern Norway". This is inaccurate. The Soviet troops only entered into the easternmost part of one of the three counties making up Northern Norway. The Soviets didn't cross the river Tana. Further, most of the Soviet troops pulled back around September/October 1945. Many refer to the Soviet activity in Northern Norway not as "occupation", but "liberation", since Soviet troops fought against the Nazi occupiers.

There were persons among the top ranking Soviet leadership who wanted the easternmost part of Finnmark to become a part of the Soviet, but it seems that Stalin respected that the whole of Norway should remain a part of the Western world.

One iconic quote is from the liberation of Kirkenes on October 25, 1944, when four Soviet soldiers told a group of probably around four thousand Norwegians who were hiding from the warfare in a mining tunnel in Bjørnevatn: "You are free, you can hoist the Norwegian flag". Yugoslavia

[edit]

Was Yugoslavia a satellite state? They joined the League of Neutral Nations, after all. 2A00:23C4:2401:6D00:D43A:54FC:605A:13B7 (talk) 16:34, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This page should be deleted, or massively revised.

[edit]

This is a page unbecoming of Wikipedia. It has been flagged as containing original research. It asserts easily demonstrable falsehoods (most notably the absurd notion that the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and the Socialist People's Republic of Albania, constituted Soviet satellite states (a term which the article fails to define). The image, especially, should be removed, as it uses blatantly incorrect names (e.g. the "federal people's republic of Yugoslavia" and the "people's republic of albania"). Furthermore, even a cursory knowledge of history disproves these assertions as "Soviet satellite states", as the SFRY was the leading party in the NAM, and Albania was conspicuously stalinist in the 1970s, completely contrary to the political position of the USSR at that time.

I may not be a regular editor, but I could not merely stand by while these falsehoods are being asserted on an encyclopedia that so many people rely on for factual, vetted information. Please, some editor, address this. 67.183.18.31 (talk) 22:58, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
