Portlet
Why did you recreate when there is already there is Java Portlet Specification article that can take the information. Per long established consensus, these types of application informations are kept all in one place. If you revert again, I'm going to start issuing warnings against you. It time wasting and tendentious editing dude. scope_creepTalk 20:47, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- I genuinely don't think it is standalone notable. scope_creepTalk 21:36, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Scope creep: I'm sorry; I had my talk page open and it refreshed when I opened my browser, and thus did not see the notification that you had written here. That being said, I disagree that portlets are less notable than Java's implementation. Due to your comment about references, I added references to show that there are books that talk about portlets, as well as general definitions. Meanwhile, the JPS page is largely attributed to primary sources if you remove the general portlet information references that I just added. Where is the notability of JPS compared to portlets? It might be reasonable for the content to be merged, but the current target does not seem like the right title to me; JPS should be a section of portlets, as it has not established independent notability. I started a discussion Talk:Java_Portlet_Specification#Portlet, before noticing your message. —21:47, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- I also take exception to your threat to issue warnings for my reasonable attempts to improve clarity in the encyclopedia. I stumbled upon JPS and the lead was confusing; I tried to edit it for clarity and found information demonstrating that one topic was an implementation of the other topic. I also saw that the content was WP:BOLDly merged without discussion and boldy decided that this was not reasonable given the refences. After you reverted, I added references and explained myself in edit summary. I did make the mistake of not seeing your messages here and again apologize. However, you have not cited a policy or guideline that says these topics should be handled together and I'm yet to see how they are considered the same topic. They feel to me more like applet versus Java applet. —Ost (talk) 22:02, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I wouldn't have issued warning. I deal with lots of new editors who don't have a clue at NPP and the clouds my behaviour and I know that is not an acceptable execuse. If you genuinely think it needs a seperate article then please go ahead. You obviously think it is important. It will perhaps be reverted again by another article reviewer, due to that old consensus. scope_creepTalk 09:52, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Scope creep:Thank you for the response and being ok with my edits. I will wait to see if that talk page discussion gathers and other opinions before taking any action; there is no rush and I appreciate your opinion in the matter. —Ost (talk) 20:23, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

Changes to "Immortal Songs"
Hi, I noticed you made a whole bunch of changes to the formatting of the guests that have appeared in "Immortal Songs". Since I've been editing the page and adding the weekly guests for the past 2-3 years it came as a surprise today to see all these changes.
My question is why did you change the format of the guests without an English Wikipedia page from what I had to this type of formatting: Park Ji-won? Is that the standard mandated formatting for Wikipedia pages that are not in English?
I'm only asking not because I dislike it, but because it sometimes clashes with the footnotes that some guests have and, most importantly, some of the guests have been confused with other persons with similar names who have a English wikipedia page. For example, singer Kim Tae-yeon from group Girls' Generation is now being confused with the actual guest which is Korean traditional singer/trot singer Kim Tae-yeon who is much younger... with your changes, the link looks like this: Kim Tae-yeon [ko] and clicking "Kim Tae-yeon" takes you to the English profile of the older singer (who has not appeared in this show in decades) and clicking the "ko" portion takes you to the actual guest. I know there is a way to fix it but I can't remember. This happens in all cases for Kim Tae-yeon and also Kim Hee-jae in the waiting room guest host section and others. Cdvmty (talk) 15:54, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Cdvmty: Using {{interlanguage link}} is the preferred way to link to pages in other Wikis that do not have pages. This provides a link, but also makes a redlink to encourage creation of the content in Wikipedia if the subject is notable. However, I should have been more careful, so as not to cause blue links in the cases that you indicated where it links to a disambiguation page or where the names clash. It looks like you figured out how to correct the links and I apologize for not seeing your message and responding sooner. Additionally, you may consider changing the vertical-align parameter so that it does not appear similar to a footnote; I've found that it often is less intrusive that way, but that is an editorial opinion. —Ost (talk) 08:18, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- No problem... I'm sure you are busy and it was just a message out of curiosity as all the changes came suddenly and I saw a sea of red links and was confused...
- And yeah, I finally had an epiphany and remembered the way to avoid the names from clashing so I think I fixed most of them. I'm trying to avoid adding footnotes because this show tends to have quite a lot of them with guest singers/dancers or special performances. So I'll leave the alignment as it is for now.
- Thanks for replying! Cdvmty (talk) 16:09, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

Unbundling citations
Hi. Please don't unbundle citations. Having a series of footnotes at the end of every sentence is distracting to the reader; see WP:CITEBUNDLE for more info. Thanks, Levivich (talk) 14:29, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Levivich:I think that either way the statements are over-referenced. I understand why you undid, but I think the
actualbetter improvement would be to reduce the number of references used for each statement; I was trying to demonstrate which were used more to assist in that cleanup. —Ost (talk) 14:33, 16 July 2024 (UTC)- Looking at the version at Special:Permalink/1234862825, the only ref that seems overcited to me is #2 (five cites). I'm not sure which of those five cites support all the details in that sentence, but yeah, that could be reduced from five to two or three since the content is no longer particularly new or controversial. The other bundles seem to me to have good reason for multiple cites. Levivich (talk) 14:56, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Levivich:Thanks for the understanding and analysis; I appreciate this discussion with you. Admittedly, I tend to prefer to have the individual references unbundled and used on the parts of the statements that they validate instead of all at the end of the lines. My general rationale is that sentences can get split without editors checking which of the bundled references is used for each part of the sentence, and thus the refs can eventually end up with the wrong sentences. As this is a recent and prominent topic with experienced editors like yourself watching it, I will not edit this page in that manner as the scrutiny should help prevent such problems. —Ost (talk) 15:21, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
