Re:Moving comments
Oh I am sorry, I didn't notice the "above" :). I wanted to say something to that effect, but seeing you have expressed it well, I thought it better be placed up there so people do not miss it. I see you have modified the comment now. - TwoOars 20:50, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the move and thanks for your comments. As I stated that incident is not something I'm proud of, but I felt it better to be open as it adds value to this RfA , IMHO. Cheers again. Pedro | Chat 20:55, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the screwdriver, :). I promise I will not stick it in my nose. - TwoOars 13:20, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- WP:BEANS. I've off to hosital now to remove a philips from my nasal passage. And I blame you entirely. :) See you round the 'pedia. Thanks again. Pedro | Chat 13:27, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yanks it off Pedro's nose. There, I removed it myself. (I am a doctor). So no need to go to the hospital. But I see that the screwdriver has penetrated the cribriform plate and entered your brain, so you are going to have lasting brain damage. - TwoOars 13:35, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Dr Two Oars! The brain damage doesn't matter - It wasn't much of a brain to start with..... Pedro | Chat 13:39, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Pedro, just a heads up; at WT:RFA, I don't think Marskell was referring to you, that comment (or similar thing) was made by Anthony.Bradbury. He just mentioned it in the reply to you; I don't think he's attacking you. Cheers. - TwoOars 13:48, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you visiting and commenting at my RfA, I have tried to expand on my philosophy and answers, and hope that these address your concerns. Even if they don't, thanks for stopping by. DrKiernan 14:13, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi Pedro, Thank you for your comments at my RfA. Let me know if I can help you and feel free to let me know if I mess up anywhere. Cheers. Shyamal 03:11, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Ck lostsword's RfA - Thanks
Thanks very much for your support in my recent RfA, which passed successfully at 40/2/1, making me Wikipedia's 1,250th administrator. Your comments were much appreciated, and I will endeavour to fulfil your expectations as an admin.

Yes please!
Any and all help would be fantastic! I've been asked to create an article on Personality and Preference Inventory and have some information. I didn't think that it was pro advertising as there's no mention of a company etc but apparently it was. There were different types of personality tests that i could see but not this one, hence the wish to add. Having looked again i've found that these articles too do not exist.
Does that mean they also breached the no advertising rule?
Cookie Monster 10:52, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
I see that you previously had an article deleted under WP:CSD guidelines. You might want to check out WP:SPAM for reference. I know nothing about the subject matter you wish to create an article on, but certainly can help on guidelines and policies. It may help for you to prepare the article as a first draft and I couild review it. Rather than making a sub page at the momnent, why not prepare it on your user page under a new heading and let me know when you've done it. But do check the spam policies first - specifically the first section on adverts masquerading as articles. Shout when you need me!Pedro | Chat 11:42, 19 June 2007 (UTC) Retrieved

Ok, got it. It's perfectly understood. :) Actually, i'll be leaving the company this summer (nothing to do with the company). Will remove it from my page when everyone's finished looking at it. Thank you so much for having a good look for me and spending so much time. x

- You're welcome. I'm sorry we couldn't accept your work, but I hope you still find Wikipedia a useful tool and consider editing on other pages. Very Best. Pedro | Chat 12:09, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Word twisiting
Please do not twist my words. I'd be inclined to consider that an actual violation of WP:CIVIL. "A monkey can 'fight' vandalism", there's no comparative there - just a statement of my opinion. For the Matthew, Matthew 21:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- How am I twisting your words? Please provide diffs and substantiation. There has been no twist at all. Put an ape in front of a keyboard and it will probably beat it up - see this for example. If you really believe that the good work reverting vandalism by numerous editors and admins is a hum-drum affair that only an ape would do I sugest you re-evaluate this project and your reason to be here. In an ideal world it would be about article creation, but sadly there's a lot more to it than that. If you are being facetious see WP:SARCASM. I'm sorry but your accusation back to me is unfounded and I would appreciate it if you would actually review WP:CIVIL before spouting it back to me. Best wishes. Pedro | Chat 22:04, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've no intention of posting any diffs. - you may read message #1 you sent to me, if you desire. "Put an ape in front of a keyboard and it will probably beat it up", teach it to use the keyboard then. "[G]ood work", right... I'm sure using automated scripts is a challenge. This is an encyclopaedia, end of. Matthew 22:18, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Uh, firstly I'm not an admin -- and I don't think I have the respect of many people, either. I used the square brackets to indicate I had capitalised the G in my quote (which wasn't originally a capital). "TW or AWB or similar - neither of which I use for vandalism", yes... it's seemingly what most "fighters" use, anyway. Matthew 22:43, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Can we let this go? I thought you were an admin as it happens, but who cares - no big deal and all that. I'm off to bed now and I would like to go to sleep relaxed, not on wiki stress. I think your comments were out of line, you think they your comments were dead right and mine were out of line; that's it really IMHO. Cheers and see you round the 'pedia. Re: Please do participate!!! I need a hand!
Hiya, Gurch. I'm coming to you as you are a respected editor and I beg a moment of your time. If you have a moment could you look here and at the draft article on the users main page. They already had this deleted once and I advised a re-write. I think it stands no chance, as it is really a blatant advert, but if you have a moment to make a comment it would be appreciated. I have also asked User:Ck lostsword to have a look too. Pedro | Chat 11:52, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Re:RfA
Um...yes, I won't take any offense from the comments or advice given. But I don't really understand what that snowball page really meant. And I do not know what a BLP is (its posted in my RfA). Could you perhaps, do me the favor of explaining a little? I'd appreciate it. -Zacharycrimsonwolf 14:08, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, thanks. But don't worry, as blunt as you'll be, I'll only get bruised. I have received good reviews from the editor review page, so I'll stick to the project (what project?) and try to be an admin until my computer is busted. No matter what people say. Cheers!!! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 14:25, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- When I say project I mean this project - Wikipedia! A humble word of advice - don't quest adminship for it's own sake. It's no big deal (per Jimbo) and is only some extra buttons. Check out WP:WAIN. I am thinking of going to RfA soon, just so I can help at CAT:CSD (with the crazy backlogs and attack pages that get left for 20 minutes) and at WP:AIV. But I'm only after the tools because I'm going to need them within those processes, not as an end in themselves. Best Wishes! Pedro | Chat 14:32, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Good luck! I'll be cheering!! Cheers!!! And thanks for the help! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 01:31, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
My userpage
Hi - I know - I have the same problem. It's got it at 100% - its the width of the border - instead of 100px, so far as I can tell - I think I've merged the wrong cells of the table. I'll try fixing it now. ck lostsword • T • C 21:01, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
RfA?
Hi Pedro. I just noticed, to my surprise, that you’re not an admin, and I’d like to nominate you. I think your +50 AIV reports show your great vandal fighting work, and I think you’d do really well in an RfA. What do you say? G1ggy Talk/Contribs 23:20, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi G1ggy. Your surprise is received as a large compliment! I was considering going for RfA for the following reasons. 1) Yes I do a lot of vandal reporting. I always check back at WP:AIV to see if my request for a block was correct (by checking the page history) and so far they allways have been. I don't see blocks as punitive, and I think by checking it validates my decision to report. 2) I do a lot of tagging for CAT:CSD (which doesn't show in my edit history, although the talk page "advise user of sd tag" does.) So far only one article (out of best guess 200) has not been deleted through CSD, but was subsequently deleted at AFD. I'm particulalry worried about backlogs at CSD especially for attack pages (one vehement attack page I tagged took 20 minutes to be deleted recently, and then only after a note was placed at ANI.) 3) There has been a lot of talk page (WT:RFA) discussion about learning the use for additional tools "on the job" so to speak - something I'm keen on. My edit count is now apx. 2500 so this may count against me (bah! editcounters), but I do feel that I could really use the buttons. If you're sure that your nomination of myself would not affect you adversely I'm up for it. For information this has been mentioned in passing by User:Ck lostsword to me as well, but I didn't want to ask him to nominate me, in view of WP:CANVASS Pedro | Chat 07:19, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- You're a gent. Don't you ever sleep ??? Pedro | Chat 07:37, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Up so early? It's only 8am, go back to sleep :p Anyway, I left a note on Ck's page, and I've created the RfA here. Good luck! G1ggy Talk/Contribs 07:52, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Adoption?
Hi! Yes, I haven't been on in a while, shame on me, but I am still interested in being adopted. user:fallthroughheat
- Don't worry - it's not a requirement to come here every day! I'd be more than happy to act as your adopter, and help you as best I can. To help me, what areas of Wikipedia are you thinkinhg of helping out in? For example, article creation, article expansion, vandal fighting, special areas of interest (sometimes called wikiprojects around here), tidy up / grammar / spelling, or anything else you can think of. I'd be delighted to point you in the right way and then we can work together from there so that you get the best out of being a wikipedian! Pedro | Chat 07:23, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I spend most of my time fighting vandalism, if that helps. It's all my friends fault, they got me into Wikipedia. :] user:fallthroughheat
- That's a noble cause, and ignore anyone who says otherwise! The number one thing in vandal fighting is assume good faith. For example, blanking a page may look like vandalism, but it could be just an innocent cut an paste error. Leaping in with a final warning is not going to help anyone. The easiest way of checking for vandalism is Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol. You may want to pop the user box on your page. Spend some time reading that page. It gives guidelines and warning templates. Also - why not have a read of WP:VAND, in particular "what vandalism is not". Let me know when you've done that and any thoughts or queries you have. Pedro | Chat 09:18, 22 June 2007 (UTC
- I read through the articles you linked to, and I did find them helpful. And I happily added the Recent changes patrol box to my page. user:fallthroughheat

- Well I picked up an oppose because of my un-clever use of WP:SARCASM once. But there's sarcasm and being funny - which your comment certainly was. Thankyou for the strong support. Pedro | Chat 16:25, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
RFA
I do believe you're a great addition to Wikipedia and a friendly contributor, but not yet ready for Adminship. I hope I was not harsh in any of my assessments. Best wishes, NSR77 TC 23:08, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think it will pass. Now keep in mind I'm not at a strong oppose, only a minor. It's just my personal belief that, even though you do help out quite a bit with the background stuff of Wikipedia, that significant mainspace editing is important. Otherwise, I'm glad to have run into you, regardless of the circumstances, and drop me a line if you ever need something. Regards, NSR77 TC 17:51, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

RFA withdrawl
I am sorry to see you do this; I don't think its failure was a foregone conclusion by any means. --Spike Wilbury ♫ talk 12:46, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm sorry too, I opposed but that was certainly without prejudice. Give it a few more months, get clued up on policy (I'd suggest hanging out around a few AfD's), then I am positive you will make a fine admin. Ryan Postlethwaite 12:49, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you both for your kind words. I obviously missed a bit of policy on the substitution thing, and my lack of main space contribs was causing issues for others. Never mind, no big deal and all that! I much appreciate all the feedback. Pedro | Chat 12:51, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Vandal Fighting
Thanks for the templates, I'm thinking they'll be helpful. Im pretty lenient with people, unless I see that they've done alot of recent vandalism or page blanking. user:fallthroughheat
Res publica
Please read carefully what I said in the AFD. I did not complain that the article was 1310 words long; I complained that it contained 1310 words of cut and paste from primary sources, and this is Wikipedia, not Wikisource. An article should quote secondary sources, not just paste in lengthy extracts from the primary sources. Edison 04:38, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- My apologies, I didn't read that correctly. I agree that the lengthy PD stuff needs to come out, but still feel the article has merit in terms of enc. value. Thanks for pointing out my oversight. Pedro | Chat 07:38, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi Pedro, It still amazes me that otherwise "anonymous" editors take the time to place !votes and comments on RfAs. Whilst I would have normally thanked you at the time of you leaving your message, the importance of my not appearing to be canvassing prevented me from so doing. Now that everything has progressed successfully I can finally thank you. I intend to uphold a style of good adminship and will welcome your further comments at any time in the future, even if they are in the form of admonishment. Hi there; we have actually interracted several times, mostly in WP:RfA. Yes, I am perfectly alright thank you, given my recent situation. I am always very happy to correspond with someone who is not saying "why did you delete my article"!!!--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:14, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Of course, many times at RFA but less so directly. I assume by "the situation" you refer to the passing of your wife, and the thoughts and prayers of myself, my wife and my young boy are still with you. Moing on, so as not to dwell on sad times, I see you so much around the 'pedia providing generous and moderated input that I thought I'd drop you a note.
