[edit]Trains on the Helsinki–Rovaniemi line pass through, and stop at, 1 Oulainen railway station. As such you can get in also from e.g. Tampere, Seinäjoki, Oulu and Kemi without changing trains.
By bus
[edit]Buses connect to Oulainen from nearby towns such as Kalajoki, Oulu, Haapavesi, Ylivieska, Kärsämäki, Merijärvi and Vihanti.
By car
[edit]As usual in rural Finland, getting in by car is also an option. Highway 86 comes in from Oulu in the north and Ylivieska in the south, whereas regional road 786 comes in from Kalajoki on the coast and Haapavesi, Kärsämäki and Highway 4 in the east.
